Fans of The Walking Dead can look forward to the introduction of two new characters during Season 6. Unfortunately, sometimes new faces mean bad things for the series’ existing cast members.
According to E! News , one of the new Walking Dead characters is named Tucker, and he’ll be introduced early on during Season 6. He’s described as a “hardworker tough guy who values fairness.”
TV Line revealed a character description for a more intriguing recurring character named Delvin , a young man who sounds like someone who will definitely get along with Rick Grimes.
Delvin is described as a “twentysomething African-American cynic” who is “left so dumbfounded by displays of stupidity that it’s nearly impossible for him to admit that he thinks, down deep, people are — or at least can be — decent. Even if they’re idiots.”
Rick Grimes seems convinced that the Alexandrians are as brainless as the walking dead outside their walls, so he might find himself a new ally in the near future. Wetpaint points out that The Walking Dead usually doesn’t use the real names of characters in these casting descriptions, so it’s possible that Delvin will actually turn out to be a fan favorite comic book character named Heath . He’s a member of the Alexandria community in the Walking Dead comic books, and he’s a supply runner who gets saved by Abraham, Rick, and Aaron after Aaron convinces Rick and his group to accompany him back to Alexandria to “audition” for the community. Glenn eventually becomes his supply run partner.
If Delvin is Heath, The Walking Dead TV series writers have obviously devised a different way to introduce his character. Perhaps he went on for a run and was left for dead long ago, but he’s still out there surviving somewhere. Or perhaps Aaron and Daryl Dixon will recruit him during one of their missions.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, many Walking Dead fans think that they have reason to believe that Norman Reedus’ character will meet his demise during Season 6, and the addition of new characters will do nothing to allay their fears. However, perhaps fans (and actor Lennie James) should really be worried about the fate of Rick’s old pal, Morgan Jones.
Many viewers have noticed that the show has a habit of killing off a black male character each time a new black male character arrives. The pattern started with T-Dog, who met his end at the prison. Inmate Oscar joined the survivors, but he was quickly “replaced” by Tyreese. And during Season 5, Bob died to make room for Father Gabriel and Noah. Noah later suffered one of the show’s grisliest deaths yet, and Morgan Jones showed up in Alexandria soon afterward. This chain of events is why some Walking Dead fans might find themselves fretting about Morgan. Now, he believes that every life is worth saving, so what will happen to him if he spares the wrong life?
Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd is aware that fans have noticed this troubling pattern, and she told E! News that the writers aren’t killing and “replacing” black male characters on purpose.
“We’ve killed a lot more white characters than African-American characters. And not only that, I think it’s important to point out that we did cast two African-American actors in roles that were not African-American. In the comic books, Bob was white. And the character of Noah was not an African-American. We just cast the best actor.”
Even though Hurd claims there is no anti-black male agenda, there will still be more faces competing for screen time during Season 6 of The Walking Dead . So do you think Lennie James should be concerned about the arrival of “Delvin?”
