The Voice viewers are threatening to boycott the show amid rumors long-time coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine could potentially sit out Season 13 due to an alleged feud with Miley Cyrus.
NBC recently announced that Miley would officially be back for Season 13 of the show, sparking rumors that Blake and Adam, who have appeared on every season of the show since it first began on NBC back in 2011, could both wave bye bye to the series alongside Blake’s girlfriend and returning coach Gwen Stefani.
And as rumors swirled that Levine and Shelton could potentially sit out Season 13, a number of fans flocked to social media to make it clear that they would not be tuning in to see Cyrus without the veteran coaches.
“@NBCTheVoice If [Adam] and/or [Blake] don’t return for Season 13, that will be the end for me!!!” The Voice viewer @JBSchade tweeted out amid the quitting rumors, while @pamelalmiller67 tweeted to Shelton, “I just heard that you, Adam and Gwen are leaving the voice Season 13 cause of Miley. We want you she can go.”
Other fans even threatened to boycott the series entirely if Miley takes the reins without Levine and Shelton on the upcoming cycle of the popular singing show.
“[Please] say media is wrong, don’t leave The Voice because of that big mouth brat!,” The Voice fan @debewilliams4 tweeted out, seemingly referring to Miley. “Trying to get a boycott til [Cyrus is] gone.”
The Cyrus backlash comes after NBC announced that Gwen Stefani would be taking over Cyrus’ seat for Season 12 of The Voice , while Miley would return for Season 13 in the second half of 2017, being the only coach so far to have been officially announced.
President of Alternative and Reality Group at NBC Entertainment Paul Telegdy confirmed The Voice’s coaching shakeup in a statement obtained by E! News back in October, where he revealed that NBC “can’t wait to experience the unique chemistry and energy Gwen, Alicia [Keys], Blake and Adam will bring” to the upcoming round of shows.
Telegdy didn’t offer up any further hints on whether or not Adam Levine or Blake Shelton would be sitting alongside Miley Cyrus in 2017, but did add, “with Miley returning for Season 13, we’re truly ecstatic about the unmatched musical know-how and talent coming together in our coming seasons.”
Adam and Blake have also not yet confirmed or denied if they’ll return to Season 13 of The Voice alongside Cyrus, though rumors have been swirling for weeks that the duo could potentially quit their prestigious The Voice gig, at least for one season, amid allegations that neither of the veteran coaches have been getting along with Miley on the set.
Radar Online first sparked the quitting speculation , alleging that “both Adam and Blake feel that they have run their course as judges” and are supposedly “highly considering” leaving The Voice together alongside Shelton’s girlfriend Gwen after Season 12 amid the Cyrus feud rumors.
A The Voice insider also alleged to the site that both Levine and Shelton haven’t exactly been seeing eye-to-eye with Cyrus, and claimed Levine in particular would rather sit out Season 13 than spend another cycle of the show sitting alongside Miley.

“Adam does not really want to return if they bring Miley back,” the site’s The Voice source alleged of his and Cyrus’ supposed on-set feud, claiming that Levine “really cannot stand Miley” and supposedly thinks that Cyrus “is the most obnoxious person ever,” though Adam has not officially confirmed the accusations.
The Levine and Cyrus feud rumors have long swirled between the two ever since Us Weekly first claimed that Adam and Miley seriously “butted heads” while filming the show’s blind auditions earlier this year, while Radar Online even alleged back in August that things were so bad between Cyrus and Levine that they were “at each other’s throats” on The Voice set.
“Adam and Miley are at each other’s throats this season and Adam acts like he cannot stand her,” an insider alleged of the feud that’s supposedly been brewing between Levine and Cyrus for the past several months. “[Levine] does not talk to [Miley] when the cameras are not rolling, and seems like he really wants nothing to do with her.”
Will you tune in to Season 13 of The Voice with Miley Cyrus if Blake Shelton and Adam Levine opt to sit it out?
