The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is the second installment on Peter Jackson’s trilogy and it follows last year’s An Unexpected Journey . The director has unveiled a new poster on his Facebook page.
The movie’s Twitter handle posted a few minutes ago that the timing of the first, much expected trailer, will be this coming Tuesday, June 11 at 10 am PST.
Fans everywhere, rejoice! The sky’s the limit as far as what will be part of this new trailer. The only thing that might not make it is the battle of the five armies.
The epic scene is presumably being filmed in the last block of shooting taking place in New Zealand. The majority of the cast has returned to complete what is left of filming for the next two installments.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will continue to follow in the adventure of the hobbit, played by Martin Freeman and the company of dwarves who set on the quest of reclaiming their land, lost to the evil Smaug the Dragon played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
In the first film, we are introduced to the twelve dwarves, each with its unique personality, and their leader Thorin Oakenshield , played by British actor Richard Armitage.
The hobbit is reluctant, to say the least, to join in his voyage, since, from all appearances it doesn’t concern him in the least. But the bond that is built during their quest proves to be a deeper one that he could ever imagine.
What will we see in this trailer is anyone’s guess. Maybe a first official peek at Bard the Bowman , played by Welsh actor Luke Evans. We could also see Orlando Bloom reprising his Lord of the Rings role of Legolas .
Whatever Peter Jackson decides to share with the public, is sure to be very much welcome, since for fans of Jackson and J.R.R. Tolkien work, the wait has seemed interminable.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in the US on December 13. Are you excited to watch this first trailer?
