Bridesmaids director Paul Feig’s The Heat has had its release date pushed back courtesy of the executives at 20th Century Fox.
Although the upcoming buddy cop flick was supposed to arrive in theaters on April 5, the film’s release date has now been pushed into the summer. According to Movie Fanatic , Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy fans will have to wait until June to check out the raunchy comedy.
The movie’s new June 28 release date puts it in competition with director Roland Emmerich’s White House Down starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The film follows the adventures of several Secret Service agents as they attempt to protect the President from a paramilitary group.
Collider reports that writer-director Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2 is also hitting theaters on the same day as The Heat . The sequel chronicles the ongoing antics of a group of superheroes as they attempt to take down a sinister villain. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Jim Carrey star in the action flick.
The Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy comedy has been described as follows:
“Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins, one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies.”
