The Flash ended Season 2 with fans on the edge of their seats by showing that Season 3 will be the start of the “Flashpoint Paradox” storyline from DC Comics. With Season 3 now filming, Savitar, Doctor Alchemy, and Mirror Master have been announced to become some of the villains that Flash and his team will have to contend with in Season 3.
The following character depictions are based on the source material in the comics from DC Wikia .

Savitar is a speedster. The Flash always needs to have some villain that has powers and abilities that can equal or rival his own. It is the only way to build tension and have fans believe that Flash could actually be beaten. We have already seen this on Season 1 with the Reverse Flash and in Season 2 with Zoom.
Savitar gets his abilities during a freak accident while flying. With his name unknown, the man who would become Savitar was a test pilot. While testing a supersonic jet, his plane was struck by lightning. He realized that he suddenly had the ability of speed and had all the powers that went along with it.
In a recent interview with IGN , Todd Helbing, executive producer of The Flash, spoke about Savitar.
“Yeah, I think in general if you have some of these other meta humans, it gets hard to show how Barry can’t get them. If you have another speedster, especially someone like Zoom, or Reverse Flash, you need somebody on an equal level to provide that threat that a lot of these other metas can’t do. Savitar is more of a psychological villain in a weird way. I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he’s all about speed. Everything about this guy is different. I can’t go into super detail, but he’s not like Zoom or Reverse Flash.”

Doctor Alchemy , also known as Albert Desmond, is a master of chemistry with two distinct personalities. Similar to Two-Face, Alchemy has a good side and a bad side. His status as a villain started with him being named Mister Element, but changed to Doctor Alchemy when he found the Philosopher’s Stone. He took the name of Doctor Alchemy due to the fact that the Philosopher’s Stone could change one object into something else, similar to alchemy turning an object into gold. Although brief, Doctor Alchemy can be seen in the Season 3 trailer for The Flash below.

There have been multiple people to take the name of the Mirror Master , but the Sam Scudder version will be the one seen on Season 3 of The Flash . Scudder became the Mirror Master due to an experiment gone wrong. Many of Flash’s villains went to see a doctor in order to make their weapons part of their DNA. An explosion happened which trapped Scudder in the Mirror World. Scudder’s girlfriend, Lisa Snart, used her astral form to free Scudder from the Mirror World, allowing him to rejoin reality. Mirror Master has shown the ability to freely enter the Mirror World and come into reality through another mirror. In one of the more popular animated movies, Justice League: Doom , Mirror Master is responsible for infiltrating the Batcave and stealing all of Batman’s contingency plans against the Justice League. These plans allowed the Legion of Doom to temporarily take out every superhero in the Justice League.
Season 3 of The Flash premiers on October 4. Are you excited to see Savitar, Mirror Master, and Doctor Alchemy come to life on television?
