Young-adult author John Green of The Fault in Our Stars fame is gaining notoriety for his controversial tale of two star-crossed lovers battling with cancer, which was recently adapted for the big screen , but The Fault in Our Stars is hardly Green’s only work. Green has been on the radar of authors to watch and boasts other teen favorites such as Looking for Alaska , An Abundance of Katherines , and Paper Towns — which will also soon be coming to the big screen.
As nerdfighters (avid John Green fans) know, Paper Towns follows Quentin, or “Q,” as he searches for his childhood friend and crush who has gone missing, rebellious teen Margo. According to Entertainment Weekly , Nat Wolff , cast member of The Fault in our Stars , is slated to play Q. Casting for Margo has not yet been announced.
The Fault in Our Stars was the first John Green novel to be adapted into a major motion picture, although John Green has written on his website that at one point or another, all of his books have been in consideration to hit the big screen. He even writes of Katherines that he is “now working with a different production company with the hopes of setting it up somewhere, but that’s a long way off.”
While Wolff’s casting has been common knowledge for a while, not all other members of the Fault team are necessarily expected to rejoin this film. However, Entertainment Weekly reports that screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber will return to collaborate once more. Green himself tried to write a screenplay that didn’t make the cut, according to his website.
As for he most recent Paper Towns scoop? John Green announced on September 4 via his Twitter account that the Paper Towns film has found a director in Jake Schrier, most famous for his work directing Robot & Frank . Following Green’s tweet, PopCrush reports that buzzing fans of the mystery novel made Paper Towns trend on social media. A release date has not been announced for the film.
Time reports that John Green was very active during the shooting of The Fault in Our Stars , and we expect him to be just as present when the next of his babies is hurled onto the big screen.
If you loved The Fault in Our Stars — regardless of whether the book or movie was better — you are sure to love Paper Towns as well. If you’ve read the book, do you think Nat Wolff is the right choice? Are you looking forward to this film? Let us know.
