Kaley Cuoco led her Big Bang Theory co-stars in a coordinated flash mob set to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” much to the surprise of showrunners Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, and Steve Molaro.
During the number, which took place during the live taping on October 23, the seven main cast members pretended to be surprised when the crew started dancing after preparing for a take.
As the music starts, the cast looks on quizzically before five of the seven — excluding Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons — join the group and perform a routine choreographed by Cuoco’s sister, Bri.
The cast then returns to the couch as Parsons stands up and utters the show’s catchphrase, “Bazinga!”
The flash mob was filmed during the episode that aired Thursday, November 15, and was intended to be a surprise for the audience and the show’s executive producers.
Cuoco could hardly contain her excitement about the flash mob after teasing a big surprise on Twitter Wednesday. She wrote, “Ok it’s here! The moment I’ve been waiting for! I finally get to share the surprise!! the BIG BANG THEORY FLASH MOB!”
The show is now in its sixth season.
The Big Bang Theory has proven to be a ratings juggernaut, and has won a People’s Choice Award for Favorite TV Comedy. Parsons in particular has won a Golden Globe and two Emmys for his role as Sheldon Cooper.
Cuoco, who is hosting the People’s Choice Awards for the second year in a row, is being nominated for role as Penny, and said it was time for her to win her own award .
“I need to win,” she said. “It’s very important to me. It’s time.”
The show is also nominated for an award which, considering its 20 million viewers has made it the most watched sitcom on TV right now, it has a very good chance of winning.
