Even though there is still the season finale of Bachelor In Paradise left to air this week, one thing is already certain leading into 2017 and that is who the next lead on The Bachelor will be. Even though he has landed the runner-up spot twice on The Bachelorette , and even on BIP , Nick Viall will finally be able to find his true love. Many fans are not happy about this, though, and they want to know how he got the part over Robby Hayes, Chase McNary, or Luke Pell.

Spoiler alert: Please let it be known that there are possible spoilers ahead for the new and upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise . If you don’t want to know them, stop reading now.

That’s right, he will finally have the chance to be the number one guy, and he’s got a lot to say about everything.

When Nick Viall was announced this past week as the next Bachelor , many initially took a welcoming approach to this news. Once the news set in and they realized it was going to be Nick on their screens in early 2017, fans wanted to know why it wasn’t going to be Robby Hayes…or more so, why not Luke Pell?

E Online reported that Luke was actually the frontrunner for the spot even though Chase McNary had been rumored to get the role. Up until a few days before the big reveal, it was going to be Luke, but then “it totally switched” and it happened so quickly that Nick’s friends weren’t even aware he got the part.

No more than a “small handful of people” knew Viall had been chosen over Luke, and there haven’t even been promos filmed yet. When it all came down to it, it wasn’t anything that Luke had done which caused him to lose the position, but it was what Nick had done during this season of BIP in Mexico.

Nick’s personality is a great fit for ABC, and the producers like how he presents himself to the world so that helped out. From there, he lost Amanda Stanton to Josh Murray on BIP which caused him to be the runner-up for the third time in his reality TV career.

That took him from villain to hero and the guy who people wanted to see finally find his long-deserved love. Host Chris Harrison says that everything Viall has already shown and presented is what they like about him, so, why not bring him back yet again as the top dog?

As for Luke Pell? Well, he is quite disappointed as ET Online states he was set to star on The Bachelor and he had even signed a contract. Multiple guys signing is nothing new, so things can be kept a secret, but this seemed a lot closer to a certainty than ever before.

Pell spoke with Us Weekly and said he was shocked when a change was made at the absolute last minute.

“We were all satisfied, had agreed to the contracts and everything was moving forward. I was checked in to my flight to come to L.A.. I got a call from producers Sunday night at about 10 p.m. They said ABC had decided to quote-unquote go in a different direction.”

“I was supposed to fly out Monday morning at 9 a.m. I had my bags packed and everything.”

“We had planned for intro filming and had planned to have my sister come on for a date and give advice as part of the show. I met with the wardrobe guys. Everything was moving forward. Everyone on the production level was expecting it to be me, as well.”

Fans started a petition on Change.org to get Luke into the spotlight they truly believe he deserves. They aren’t looking to take Viall out of his spot, but have a double-lead on The Bachelor and allow both men to take on the starring role.

While they have almost reached their goal of 5,000 signatures as of this writing, it’s likely their cries will go unnoticed.

Nick Viall being the next lead on The Bachelor means that he is finally going to find the love he has wanted for so long. He has come up short time and time again, but this almost guarantees he will find the love he desires and has tried to get, but always come up short. Fans will still watch the show in 2017 even though many feel as if Robby Hayes or especially Luke Pell should have landed the gig.
