Tamar Braxton spoke out about being in an abusive relationship just months before getting into a domestic dispute with her husband, Vince Herbert.
Following recent reports of a domestic incident between Tamar and her husband, Daily Mail published footage of Braxton speaking out about escaping an abusive relationship during a heartfelt segment on the daytime talk show, The Real .
The site dug up the footage which was featured on the show back in January 2015, in which Tamar admitted to her now former co-hosts that she was once in a relationship with a man who abused her both “mentally and physically.”
“God really saved me from myself because I was with the wrong person,” Braxton told co-hosts Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love, Jeannie Mia, and Tamera Mowry-Housley just months before she was sensationally fired from the talk show.
“When I was with the wrong person, it made me feel bad about myself and who I was,” Tamar continued, not naming the man in the question. “He made me feel so bad about having dreams [and] having goals.”
“My goals and dreams were not the same as his,” Braxton admitted on the show, “and because of that he used to beat me down. Mentally and physically. It was just this really hard time for me.”
Tamar then continued her heartfelt confession by telling audience members that she didn’t know where to go to escape the abuse before encouraging viewers to “get to know you” to avoid being in situations of domestic violence.
Braxton’s The Real confession about her past abusive relationship, presumably before she married Herbert in 2008, resurfaced just days after it was reported that Tamar and Vince got into a domestic dispute that allegedly turned physical during a recent trip to Atlanta.
Tamar Braxton and Vince Herbert have so far stayed mum on the domestic dispute claims, although Bossipreported that the two got into an “intense physical domestic dispute” at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on August 21 that supposedly turned violentafter Vince allegedly bit Braxton on the hand.
“Vince actually bit Tamar on her hand so badly that he drew blood,” a source who claimed to have witnessed the dispute told the site, adding that Braxton was left in “extremely bad shape.”
Shortly after Bossip ‘s report, TMZ released the 911 audio from the incident in which a male voice can be heard telling the operator that he was requesting police to respond to a domestic dispute between Braxton and her husband, who he claimed had already left in a cab.
But despite reports claiming that Vince “drew blood” by biting Tamar’s hand, Daily Mail confirmed that police responded to the call and attended the scene only to determine that no crime had been committed by Herbert.
The site reported that police who responded to the 911 call “learned that it was just a verbal dispute and nothing criminal had transpired,” while also confirming that Herbert had “left the location prior to their arrival.”
Tamar and Vince are still yet to officially comment on the domestic drama surrounding their marriage, although reports recently claimed that it appeared Braxton’s former The Real co-stars made have been throwing some shade Tamar’s way following the incident.
OK! Magazine accused Braxton’s former co-hosts of alluding to her and Vince’s recent incident on social media.
Immediately following the domestic dispute reports, Tamera Mowry-Housley posted a loved-up snap of herself and husband Adam Housley while both Adrienne Bailon and Jeannie Mai took to Instagram to show off photos of the ladies celebrating Bailon’s recent engagement without Tamar.
