Cindy Kimberly was a normal 17-year-old student making $3 an hour as a babysitter, but now thanks to a viral shout out from pop star Justin Bieber, she is one of the most popular users on Instagram and an overnight celebrity.
Bieber helped make Kimberly famous when he posted a picture of her on Instagram along with the message “OMG who is this!!” Amazingly, the 17-year-old already had a few thousand followers just by posting some racy photos, and those who recognized Kimberly helped Bieber find her.
The Daily Mail tracked down more information about Cindy Kimberly, finding that she lives in Spain in the Costa Blanca resort of Denia. She also posted a resume online advertising her babysitting services.
“My name is Cindy Kimberly and I am 16,” the post read. “I can do the shopping and help with homework. If you are looking for a baby sitter and you would like to know more about me, contact me.”
The Daily Mail also found that Kimberly has a bit of trouble in her past, including a run-in with police when she was either 15 or 16.
“Town hall chiefs in Villajoyosa, a 40 minute drive of Denia, published her name on a December 2013 official bulletin, warning her she had 15 days to appeal against an administrative proceeding for breaching a by-law banning drinking in the street,” the site noted.
While Justin Bieber was searching for the mystery Instagram girl, his real-life former girlfriend was stirring up some drama as well. Selena Gomez, who had an on-again off-again relationship with Bieber for several years, has now started a new romance with One Direction singer Niall Horan. And in a recent comment on a fan-made Instagram account , Selena appeared to take a dig at Bieber.
A fan took a picture with both Bieber’s new album Purpose and One Direction’s Made in the AM , writing “My friend likes jb and 1d but idk which one to get him? Purpose or Made in the AM ?”
Selena replied, “Made in the AM,” and then 12 minutes later answered even more emphatically, “MADE IN THE AM.”
This was already a bit of a sore subject for Justin Bieber, who expressed some frustration that One Direction’s album would end up dropping on the same exact day of his album.
There is plenty of Instagram drama on Cindy Kimberly’s page as well. Justin Bieber’s unsolicited shout-out has brought all kinds of attention, with thousands of new followers and people leaving all kinds of messages, from compliments on her looks to some leaving spiteful messages and others defending the teen.
It turns out that Bieber has been making other headlines for his interaction with underage girls. At a concert in Toronto this week, the 21-year-old singer was interacting a bit with the crowd and acknowledging his young fans.
“Who’s 13? We got any 13-year-olds?” Bieber asked his audience to loud cheers. “We got any 14-year-olds?”
Us Weekly noted the turn it took from there.
“After a brief pause, the Canadian pop star began counting with his fingers to do some quality math. ‘Four more years until you’re 18,’ Bieber joked, as he looked over to the side of the stage.
“While the crowd of screaming tween girls went wild, Bieber chuckled and added: ‘Too much, Justin.’”
Justin Bieber’s mystery Instagram girl may be hugely popular now, but she will be able to keep at least some anonymity, as it turns out that Cindy Kimberly isn’t her real name — or at least not all of it. The Daily Mail found that she has two surnames, including one ancient Valencian surname. The outlet did not reveal them.
