During last week’s Supergirl , Kara and her friends at the DEO dealt with Super Jailer. Since Supergirl still believed that head of the DEO Hank Henshaw/J’onn J’onzz was the one that killed her aunt Astra, she had trouble working with the DEO. In reality, it was Kara’s sister Alex that killed Astra — but only to save Hank’s life. Alex tries to confess the truth several times but is prevented from doing so each time she makes an attempt. Meanwhile, Non warned Kara that, after the traditional two-week mourning period he would observe for Astra’s death, he was coming for Supergirl.
At work, things weren’t any easier for Kara. Her boss was still upset with her and hired another assistant, who clearly has it out for Kara. While she hasn’t displayed any superpowers yet, the new work rival — Siobhan Smythe — will eventually become Silver Banshee. For now, she’s just causing drama at CatCo.

During this week’s episode, Supergirl spends most of the episode fighting on her own, as she still doesn’t fully trust Hank and the DEO. This week’s enemy first reveals herself when she hacks into the servers at CatCo. Cat receives information from a hacker about the affairs of many high-level government officials, as revealed through leaked information from an adultery-accommodating website. When she shows no interest in using the intel, the hacker works her way into the servers at CatCo and says that she’ll unleash chaos on National City since they didn’t publish the information. Immediately, all of the city’s stoplights turn green, and Supergirl has to save the day.
When confronted with the villain, it is discovered that she is able to use electronic devices to transport herself, as she first appears in front of Supergirl through Winn’s computer and exits the same way when surrounded by Kara and the DEO. Still refusing to work alongside Hank, James takes Supergirl to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, where Kara discovers that the new threat is named Indigo, a former prisoner of Fort Rozz. She is part of a highly intelligent race that served as super computers on Krypton. She was arrested when she tried to end the entire Kryptonian race. As we discover from her interaction with Non, her new plan is to eliminate the human race.

Ultimately, after Indigo gains access to a nuclear missile, she attempts to nuke National City. Finally, teaming up with the DEO again, Supergirl is able to stop the missile. Winn is able to use a virus he wrote to infect — and destroy — Indigo. Before she is eliminated, however, she confesses a detail about Supergirl’s origin story . While Kara’s pod was stuck in the Phantom Zone, Indigo was the one who attached the pod to the ship from Fort Rozz and sent them all to Earth. Had it not been for Indigo, Supergirl would still be asleep in the Phantom Zone.
On our way to this conclusion, further relational drama unfurled. Taking Kara to the Fortress caused James to forget a date he had set with Lucy Lane. By the end of the episode, Lucy breaks up with James, who was just about to tell her that Kara is Supergirl and that he’s been working with the DEO.

Siobhan/Banshee’s character saw some development as well. After a very frustrating day at work, she unloads on Winn about how her father’s infidelity hurt her as a child. After he opens up to her about his own family issues, she kisses him and tells him to keep it a secret.
As the episode ends, Alex confesses to Kara that she was the one who killed Astra, not Hank. Supergirl is hurt but accepts the facts and appears to have made amends with Hank, Alex, and the DEO. Just before the credits roll, we see Non using a computer to bring a version of Indigo back to life: a version that sees things Non’s way and will seemingly do as he wishes.
