Steve Wozniak is not happy with the portrayal of himself or Steve Jobs in the first clip released from jOBS .
No movie based on real events will always be truly accurate, but it is rare these “facts” to be disputed before a movie even comes out. Case in point: Zero Dark Thirty. There was no controversy surrounding the torture scenes and their authenticity until after the movie came out.
I guess the producers of jOBS picked the wrong clip to premiere early. Gizmodo premiered the clip, and now Wozniak, a frequent commenter on the blog, has responded to the clip.
Featured just below the clip in the comments section, Wozniak writes:
“Not close…we never had such interaction and roles…I’m not even sure what it’s getting at…personalities are very wrong although mine is closer…don’t forget that my purpose was inspired by the values of the Homebrew Computer Club along with ideas of the value of such machines and Steve J. wasn’t around and didn’t attend the club so he was the one learning about such social impact of the future.”
Was anyone expecting j OBS to be entirely accurate? Probably not. Still, it’s interesting to get a response from one of the real life parties being portrayed in the film.
This is also not the first time a real life figure has claimed to be mis-portrayed in a film. Shortly after The Blindside came out, Michael Oher said he was depicted too dumb. After Moneyball came out, former A’s manager Art Howe claimed to be portrayed as nothing more than a petty villain.
Will Steve Wozniak’s response to the jOBS clip stop you from seeing the movie when it comes out on April 19?
