‘Star Wars’: Patton Oswalt’s Animated Rant Hits YouTube [Video]

Patton Oswalt ranted about Star Wars recently, and it was turned into an animated YouTube video.

Long-time fans of Patton Oswalt may remember his standup rant on what George Lucas did with the Star Wars prequels. The comedian talked about a hypothetical situation where the previous Star Wars head honcho approached him with the idea for the prequels. The conversation began, “Hey, do you like Darth Vader?”

Patton Oswalt replied yes, and he was told that Darth Vader would be in this one, but he’s a kid who just left his mom, and he’s sad. Then hypothetical George Lucas asked him, “Do you like Boba Fett?” and again, he said yes.

“Well in the second film he’s a boy, and he loses his dad, and he’s sad.”

Needless to say, if the conversation had actually happened, Patton Oswalt would have undoubtedly kicked George Lucas in the nards. Basically he was saying that George Lucas seemed to go out of his way to destroy Star Wars.

The animated Patton Oswalt rant on Star Wars starts with the comedian sitting at a desk, “Let the filibustering begin! As many of you have noted that use the internet, it has been announced that Disney has acquired the rights to the Star Wars franchise and in the summer of 2015 we will see the release of Star Wars Episode VII.”

Patton Oswalt then gives his proposal for how he wants the movie to happen. It begins with the classic opening title and fanfare music, and the scrolling intro text by original writer Brian DePalma. Then the film starts out with a view of the Sarlacc Pit and an emerging and still living Boba Fett. Then it cuts to an Imperial destroyer now taken over by the rebels. Inside the ship is Commander Luke Skywalker training new padawans as he continues to use the lightsaber won from his father.

Then it jumps to a nearby asteroid where Thanos, from the end credit scene of The Avengers, apparently used the reality gem to jump between universes.

Back on Earth, Patton Oswalt continues his treatment of the next Star Wars , Tony Stark notices a disturbance in a “time ribbon.”

The rest of Patton Oswalt’s rant on how Star Wars Episode VII should go is above. What do you think of the animated video from YouTube?
