As expected, the set of Star Wars Episode VII has been a very guarded one, but we may have spotted a new, improved stormtrooper, which looks a lot more modern and very similar to the ones we saw in Clone Wars . J.J. Abrams is fiercely protecting things from being leaked, but this one looks like the real thing.
As reported by The Inquisitr a few days ago, we got some leaked Millennium Falcon inside photos , which also looked real. Of course, we won’t know for sure if these are the new stormtroopers from Star Wars Episode VII until the movie is released or if the Millennium Falcon actually looks like the photos we saw.
Everyone is trying to get their hands on the latest rumors, but we have to remember to take all these reports with a big grain (or truckload) of salt, as the internet gives way to all sorts of speculation. In the new images, we see the stormtroppers in Star Wars Episode VII are a mix between the traditional ones we first met in the original trilogy and those in Clone Wars .
This is how the stormtroopers looked in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope :
According to Indie Revolver , they have it on good authority that the images are the new stormtrooper mask from Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII . This is the detailed description of the new design:
“The sequel Stormtrooper helmet feels like a natural continuation from the original, but there are distinct differences. The helmet is not symmetrical – there’s only one breather/vent on the bottom near the mouth, on his left side. The black “mouth” area under the white nose plate appears to be a cloth/mesh (which you can better see in the detail shot below). The eye lenses are still separate, but set into a black frame to connect them and give the illusion of one single piece.”
These new stormtoopers come to Star Wars Episode VII after we last saw them unsuccessfully protecting Lord Vader in Return of the Jedi . The fact that the white soldiers are back can only mean that the Dark Side is still alive and kicking, even though our heroes Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) destroyed the Death Star about 30 years before.
Star Wars Episode VII and the new stormtroppers return to a theater near you on December 18, 2015.
