The leaked emails from Sony are being called the Christmas gift that keeps on giving. That’s because the Sony leaked emails have revealed secrets that the general public may not have guessed. For one, Sony and other big movie studios are trying to take down a company known as “Goliath,” according to Business Insider , who says it’s pretty clear that the Goliath in question is Google .
Steven Fabrizio, an MPAA attorney, laid out plans to defeat Google, because Google helps people pirate movies and watch them online. Online distribution is something that folks are calling on Sony to do with The Interview , in hopes the much-discussed movie will be available to watch legally online soon , reports the Inquisitr . Google has so much money, power, and access that it’s a company that others must tread lightly against.
While the MPAA might desire to take down the Mountain View, California-based Google Goliath, they don’t seem to have the technical know-how or strength in place to go against the major search engine that they feel is allowing piracy to prosper and proliferate.
“Very little systematic work has been completed to understand the technical issues related to site blocking in the U.S. and/or alternative measures IPSs [sic] might adopt.”
Google has made it harder for folks to find pirated movies to watch online by changing their formula for ranking websites, but apparently people are still afraid of Google, because a studio executive even blasted President Obama for not stepping up to the plate and going against the power of Google.
Meanwhile, in more interesting and less technical news, Amy Pascal reportedly called Adam Sandler an a**hole for wanting $200 million from Sony to bring the board game Candyland to life on the big screen, and for other big-money demands.
“Adam is an a**hole and this is more his fault than anyone’s but what we did was not communicate with each other and make assumptions.”
That’s what Amy Pascal wrote in information uncovered via the leaked Sony emails subsequent to meeting with Adam Sandler, according to Radar Online .
Beyond information gleaned from the leaked Sony emails, TMZ reports that the Sony hackers are demanding that Sony also remove all trailer videos of The Interview movie from social media. The hackers also mocked the FBI.
“The result of investigation by FBI is so excellent that you might have seen what we were doing with your own eyes. We congratulate you [sic] success. FBI is the BEST in the world.”
