Sinead O’Connor is keeping Chicago police busy. The Irish singer turned up on social media to dispel a police report that falsely stated that she was had threatened to jump off a bridge. In an angry Facebook post, Sinead O’Connor wrote that someone in Ireland is trying to stir up trouble.
After posting an all-caps rant about Britain’s decision to exit the European Union, Sinead slammed an unnamed nemesis for falsely phoning in a report that she had threatened suicide.
“Oh and by the way it’s b******t I jumped off a bridge, some stupid b***h up at Swords Garda station decided she’d like to throw a bit of false and malicious gossip about is all. AM FAR TOO F*****G HAPPY FOR THAT!!” O’Connor wrote.
Before Sinead O’Connor was found safe and sound on social media, TMZ posted a Chicago police scanner audio which had an officer reporting that someone close to O’Connor in Ireland had phoned in the report, saying she was suicidal and threatening to jump off a bridge in the Chicago area. The CPD “issued an all-call radio message,” alerting officers to keep an eye out for the Irish singer.
Irish authorities reportedly told Chicago police: “Sinead O’Connor called and said ‘I’m on a bridge in Chicago and I’m going to jump.’”
Despite her post that she is currently “far too happy” to kill herself, it’s no secret that Sinead O’ Connor has long been struggling with depression. In a similar incident last month, O’Connor was reported missing after she failed to return from an early morning bike ride after supposedly making suicidal threats, and a massive manhunt ensued. BBC News reported that O’Connor had been located in a hotel in Wilmette, Illinois, after police were called to “check the well-being” of the 49-year-old singer.

In a rambling Facebook message posted shortly after the incident, Sinead seemingly called out her son, Jake, and her ex, Donal Lunny, for doing something “criminal” and warning them to get lawyers.
In another bizarre incident last November, O’Connor posted a disturbing message on her Facebook account, calling out her family and the fathers of her four children about how they’ve allegedly treated her since she had a hysterectomy last summer. In her post, O’Connor wrote that she overdosed and that she was “at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name.”
Irish website breaking news.ie reported that Sinead’s overdose threat was promptly reported to authorities and that she was found by Irish police two hours after her Facebook message was posted. The singer later revealed that she had been detained in hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Sinead O’Connor had made a lot of headlines in the past year, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been for her music. After Prince died of an opiate overdose in April, O’Connor accused talk show host Arsenio Hall of being the music icon’s drug supplier. Hall slapped Sinead with a $5 million defamation lawsuit, describing her as a “desperate, attention-seeker… now known perhaps as much for her bizarre, unhinged internet rants as for her music.” According to Billboard, Sinead O’Connor laughed off the lawsuit .
“I’m more amused than I’ve ever dreamed a person could be and look forward very much to how hilarious it will be watching him trying to prove me wrong,” Sinead wrote on Facebook. “I’m also very happy to notice that the DEA have taken me seriously enough to be thoroughly questioning all of Prince’s friends and aides from the last thirty years as to his KNOWN history of hard drug use and where he obtained his drugs. I do not like drugs killing musicians. And I do not like Arsenio Hall.”
Sinead O’Connor has not released an album since 2014’s I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss.
