Shia LaBeouf Quits? Actor Releases Emails After Being Let Go From ‘Orphans’

It was announced earlier this week that Shia LaBeouf was leaving the play Orphans over “creative differences.” Well, thanks to the Transformers star’s Twitter account, we now know who those creative differences were with and why exactly LaBeouf was asked to leave.

LaBeouf took to Twitter last night to share various emails from his co-stars, Alex Baldwin and Tom Sturridge, as well as his director Daniel Sullivan, after his dismissal was announced .

Sullivan explained to LaBeouf that he was let go because he was “incompatible” with his co-star Alec Baldwin. Sullivan had nothing but nice things to say to LaBeouf but ultimately had to let him go because having two volatile actors on the set was too much for him to handle.

Sullivan said:

“I’m too old for disagreeable situations. You’re one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. you are who you are. you two are incompatible. I should have known it. This one will haunt me. You tried to warn me. you said you were a different breed. I didn’t get it.”

Baldwin also wrote LaBeouf an email saying that he “didn’t have a bad word” to say about the actor.

Baldwin worte:

“It’s been awhile. And perhaps some of the particulars are different. But it comes down to the fact that what we all do now is critical. Perhaps especially for you. I don’t have an unkind word to say about you. You have my word.”

LaBeouf also received messages from Tom Sturridge and fight director Rick Sordelet, who both had nothing to do with the controversy, but wanted to give LaBeouf a kind word on his departure.

Sturridge writes :

“I don’t really know what to write. I went in this afternoon and they were all there … producers, etc. I said my piece but they didn’t really listen … All I can say is that it truly was an honor to work with you even if it was only for a few days. I was stunned by the work you were doing, the performance you were giving. I think you lifted the play to a place higher than maybe it even deserved to be … Hope you’re okay brother.”

Sordelet added:

“Sorry things went down like they did. It’s a pity Broadway will not get to see your Treat. It was obvious you were going to turn in a fantastic performance. But you are a divinely guided young man and it will all become clear in a short time.”

You won’t be getting a chance to see Shia LaBeouf in Orphans but you can get a taste of what his performance would have been like. Here’s his audition tape.
