Shia Labeouf recently took the spotlight for issuing a warning to people around the United States about the NSA and tracking phone calls back in 2008, well before the recent release that confirmed the surveillance. The popular actor’s plea obviously didn’t hit home with the nation until now, but his recent film has made it’s mark and Millennium Entertainment has bought the US rights to give it a go.

The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman made its debut at The Sundance Film Festival and was also featured at the Brazil Film Festival. The film must have made a good impression, as the independent film distributor in Millenium has bought out the rights and it was considered a “perfect addition to our slate” by the company’s CEO.

“In his theatrical debut, Fredrik Bond has created a stylish, action-packed ride that hooks you from the first moments and never lets go,” Millennium Entertainment CEOBill Lee said. “This is a perfect addition to our slate, and we expect the film to draw audiences in all windows of release.”

Shia Labeouf stars in the movie as Charlie himself and there is a mixture of popular stars also in the film. Ronald Weasley anyone? Yes, Rupert Grint co-stars along with Evan Rachel Wood, Mads Mikkelsen, Til Schweiger, Aubrey Plaza, James Buckley and Melissa Leo .

The film follows Labeouf’s character as he crosses the Atlantic Ocean after seeing visions of his late mother. Evan Rachel Wood plays as Labeouf’s love interest in the movie.

Rupert Grint, on the other hand, goes far beyond his role as the goofy best friend to Harry Potter in the popular movie series that led to his rise. Grint plays the role of Carl who is a drug-loving, aspiring porn star that befriends Labeouf’s character.

Do you believe The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman will be a hit and bring in audiences with Shia Labeouf as the star?
