Seventh Son , the epic fantasy adventure film that’s has been plagued with pushbacks time after time, has released a new trailer and poster promising an explosive fantasy adventure starring Jeff Bridges. Or is it starring Rooster Cogburn? Or that guy from R.I.P.D. ?
Based upon the novel The Spook’s Apprentice by Joseph Delaney, Seventh Son follows Tom Ward (Ben Barnes), who is the seventh son of a seventh son, meaning he has the ability to see ghosts. He is apprenticed to the Spook or Master Gregory (Bridges), who will train Ward in combating different types of spirits and witches. The film also stars Julianne Moore as Mother Malkin, who is a witch, and Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones .
Originally slated for February 22, 2013, Seventh Son is now on its fourth release date and will be released (hopefully) on February 6, 2015. Seventh Son was featured in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con in 2013 during the Warner Brothers/Legendary Pictures panel before the studios sold the distribution rights to Universal Studios only a month later.
In addition to the new trailer, Seventh Son has a spiffy new poster.
Watching the new trailer, it’s not entirely clear whether or not the studio understands what the film is about. The first trailer can be viewed below:
The film has been struggling to make it to the big screen since 2011, when Entertainment Weekly made note of casting rumors swirling around stars Bridges and Moore.
Will you be seeing Seventh Son in theaters in February? Do you think it will actually make it to that point?
