Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard aren’t wasting any time getting Baby Dilly accustomed to the spotlight. However, 19 Kids and Counting fans might have a hard time getting used to calling their son by a different nickname — Jill and Derick revealed that their little tater tot’s official name is Israel David Dillard. Perhaps they’ll call him Izzy Davy Dilly for short.
According to Us Weekly , Jill Duggar shared the first up-close shot of little Israel on her Instagram page. On the Duggar Family Facebook page, the babe’s proud grandparents shared more photos of the late arrival hanging out at the hospital.
According to Jill, her giant dill pickle weighed 9 lbs, 10 oz. and was 23 inches long.
Derick seems to be in awe of his son.
The infant formerly known as Baby Dilly was given a March 24 due date, but he chose not to make an appearance until late Monday night. His timing was actually pretty great — he turned out to be the perfect promo for tonight’s baby-centric episode of 19 Kids and Counting . According to E! News , the episode featured Jill and Derick’s trip to the doctor to find out the gender of their baby.
In the video below, Jill reveals that “not everything went as expected” during Israel’s birth. This is because she obviously wasn’t able to give birth at home like she’d hoped to do, and it’s possible that she had to have a C-section. As the Inquisitr previously reported, 19 Kids and Counting fans will be able to see what didn’t go according to plan when Baby Dilly’s birth is featured on a May 5 episode of 19 Kids and Counting .
As you can see, Derick Dillard is wearing an Israel Defense Forces T-shirt in the video above. Surely he wasn’t trying to turn his son’s birth into a political statement.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, the uber-religious Dillards seem to be pretty obsessed with Israel , likely because of its connection to the Bible. Derick purchased Jill’s engagement ring in Israel, and Jill fell in love with the country after her family visited in 2011. According to Hollywood Life , Jill and Michelle Duggar had to spend an extra week in Israel because baby Josie got seriously sick during the trip.
Derick revealed their baby name choice during the latest episode of 19 Kids and Counting, and he explained that Israel means “God will prevail.” According to the International Business Times , the couple selected the name Selah for a little girl. It means “pause and reflect.” Selah is a word that appears in the Hebrew Bible.
Many 19 Kids and Counting fans are probably already wondering what Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard will name their next child. Jill is adamant that she’s not going to follow the Duggar family tradition of giving her children names that start with the same letter, but she and Derick do want to start a tradition of their own. They talked about using Biblical names, and their Selah choice seems to indicate that they’re going this route. However, because they ended up naming their son Israel, they could always change their theme and start naming their children after places that they’ve visited (the Duggars are quite the globetrotters).
