Second Person Charged In Illegal Buttocks Implants Death

Jackson, MS — A second person has been charged in the death of a woman who died after receiving illegal buttocks implants last year, authorities said Monday.

Thirty-nine-year-old Natasha Stewart was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee, January 3. According to a news release from the attorney general’s office, Stewart waived extradition and will be returned to Mississippi.

Stewart was indicted on charges of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Morris Garner, also known as Tracey Lynn Garner, was previously charged with depraved-heart murder in the death of 37-year-old Karima Gordon. Garner was said to have performed the illegal procedure at his Jackson home. Investigators said the silicone-like substance Garner used caused blood clots in Gordon’s lungs and killed her.

The term “depraved-heart murder” refers to an action that demonstrates a “callous disregard for human life” and results in death, according to the Huffington Post . The charge carries a life sentence.

Attorney General Jim Hood said Garner had no training or certification to perform the procedure. He said that Gordon, who wanted to become a model, found Garner after meeting someone on the Internet who was known to authorities as “Pebbelz.” That person was Natasha Stewart.

Gordon met Stewart in New York City and paid her $200 for the referral, Hood said. She then drove to Mississippi with a friend, but became ill a few hours after the procedure. Garner told her to buy some cough medicine. Gordon died at a Georgia hospital a few days later.

Sadly, this isn’t the first death to occur from this type of procedure. As we previously reported, Padge Windslowe, also known as the “Black Madam,” was arrested for the death of 20-year-old Claudia Aderotimi . Windslowe had given the young woman — who flew from London to Philadelphia — construction-grade silicone injections at a “butt pumping party” in 2011 for $1,800. Another one of Windslowe’s “clients” suffered serious lung problems after receiving a similar injection. Windslowe was charged with third-degree murder.
