Sasha Banks versus Charlotte will go down as one of the most important rivalries in WWE history. The Boss and The Queen have been feuding for roughly the entire year and have been at war over the Raw Women’s Championship over the past six months. Together, the two women have traded the title back and forth a handful of times, made WWE history many times over, and brought women’s wrestling to a new level.
At WWE Roadblock: End of the Line , Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks in a 30-minute Ironman match that will serve as the rubber match of their rivalry for the foreseeable future. Many WWE fans were shocked to see The Boss drop the Raw Women’s Championship to Charlotte again, but WWE officials want to push Bayley as the next challenger and keep Charlotte’s undefeated record on WWE PPVs going for a bit longer.
Meanwhile, Sasha is selling the effects of the Ironman match with an “injured” leg. She will also transition into a feud with Nia Jax and will be leaving the title scene for a while. It will be a tough pill to swallow for The Boss, but she’s established herself as one of WWE’s best superstars. Having said that, not everyone is impressed with her body of work. In particular, one man isn’t a big fan of Banks, and it could be a problem.
According to a new report, Vince McMahon may not be the biggest fan of Sasha Banks. Many people will read that and misunderstand. Obviously, Vince sees Sasha as a big star in WWE and as a fan favorite of the WWE Universe. There is no question that she is a top face in the women’s division. However, he has some major concerns about her that are causing him to hit the breaks and favor Charlotte heading into 2017.
Dave Meltzer was discussing Vince McMahon’s feelings about The Boss on Wrestling Observer Radio and revealed that Sasha getting a longer run with the WWE Women’s Championship isn’t likely. Over the past few months, Sasha has become a three-time champion, but she didn’t have a successful title defense against Charlotte. A lot of the reasoning behind that is McMahon doesn’t trust her to hold the title for a long time.
It’s been reported that Vince McMahon views Sasha as “injury prone,” which has really hurt her stock with Vince and some other WWE officials. Her history of back problems is a huge red flag to them because they see putting the WWE Women’s Championship on her as a risk. She’s been hurt or injured far too often, and she will need to have back surgery eventually. Currently, Charlotte is hot and the better option right now.
A lot of people will think Vince McMahon is just out to stop Sasha Banks from becoming the star she should be for WWE. From a business standpoint, it’s logical for Vince and other officials to be concerned about her history of back issues. Frankly, it makes a lot of sense because there have been reports about Banks taking some heat from WWE officials for things like the ending of the WWE Hell in a Cell match with Charlotte.
A key thing to remember is her age. Sasha Banks is only 24-years-old. She’s already a three-time WWE Women’s Champion and made wrestling history. If she can stay healthy, the sky is the limit for her. In the short term, Vince McMahon may be hesitant to give Sasha the ball and let her run, but her time will come eventually, In the short-term, WWE officials still have big plans for her heading into 2017.
