Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland has been relatively quiet on social media since the news of her ex’s physical and emotional abuse broke. Now Hyland reached out to the same cast that has helped her during this trying time.

Showing support for her cast, Hyland wrote about the premiere of Modern Family’s sixth premiere in a series of tweets.

Before she took to Twitter, she made sure to write a special message on Instagram before the premiere.

“Tonight’s the night!!! Season 6 premiere of #modernfamily on abc 9/8c!!!! I can’t believe I’ve been working with this show for almost 6 years!”

“I love these people with all of my heart and will never forget this blessing of a job… Hope you all enjoy the new season!!”

As The Inquisitr reported , Sarah Hyland had to make the difficult decision in requesting a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend and actor Matthew Prokop.

TMZ released the court documents that revealed the star was physically and emotionally abused by her longtime boyfriend. The documents list a history of abusive behavior including Hyland being choked by her ex.

In the documents Hyland stated, “His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life.”

Her Modern Family co-star, Julie Bowen, who also plays her mother on the show, was aware of the abusive relationship, and went over to help Hyland so she could end the relationship in a “peaceful” way. When Prokop showed up to the house and saw Bowen, matters escalated, as Prokop threatened “to set one of her homes on fire.” The actor also said “she would never see her dog again.”

Additionally, Prokop told Hyland that she “deserved to die.” Because of these threats Bowen made the actress leave her home. This all happened in August, but the restraining order was granted this week due to Prokop’s release from rehab.

When the news broke, the actress’ rep simply stated, “Out of respect for the court, the process and all parties, I have advised Ms. Hyland not to comment on the matter.”

A source close to the situation told US Weekly , while the situation was scary for the actress, she will “bounce back” from the whole thing.
