Preorders of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have gone through the roof. According to several South Korean reports, Samsung has already taken 20 million preorders for its two new smartphones. The company hopes to launch the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge worldwide on April 10.
Wireless providers around the world are placing massive orders for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, according to reports from South Korea. This information shows that consumers are more interested in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge than the media thinks.
“Samsung received some 20 million pre-orders for the S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung has taken orders for “15 million of [the] S6 and 5 million [of the] S6 Edge from mobile carriers worldwide. This is a record.”
These preorders are not orders placed by individual consumers , according to Information Week . They are also orders placed by retailers and mobile companies that will eventually sell the devices to consumers at wireless retail stores. The large number of orders does not necessarily reflect sales on consumer interest, but it gives an idea of how much interest both of these devices have among the general public.
Verizon announced that they are taking preorders for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge starting April 1. This will be followed by the worldwide launch on April 10. It’s not a rumor since Verizon confirmed this news on Twitter.
The mobile carrier tweeted, “Preorders for the Samsung #GalaxyS6 & S6 edge w/ Verizon 4G LTE & 5.1? Quad HD Super AMOLED display will begin on 4/1.”
The Galaxy S6 includes an octa-core Exynos processor with 3GB of RAM. It also has a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED Display, a 2,550mAh battery pack, and a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S6 Edge bends on each side. Samsung’s latest smartphones include a metal-and-glass design and a SD card slot. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge also eliminate the need for a removable battery. These phones have the same internals, but have different sizing and design.
The Inquisitr previously reported the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge phones. The article revealed that the phones support 4G LTE networks along with 3G and 2G networks. Both the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge also have a heart rate monitor and a fingerprint sensor – just like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S5.
