Sam Horowitz’s Bar Mitzvah was the place to be in November, as we could see from the viral video of the boy’s entrance into the religious celebration and ceremony.
The video was posted to YouTube on November 26, 2012 but only started gaining attention when Jewish parenting blog Kveller featured it last week.
The blog rightly called the now-viral video “the craziest Bar Mitzvah video” ever. After being picked up by Kvellar, the clip, filmed at the Onmi Hotel in Dallas, Texas, has now gone viral, with almost 410,000 views.
The viral video of his Bar Mitzvah also earned Sam Horowitz a Skype interview on GMA LIVE!, which aired on Wednesday. In the interview, Horowitz commented that the performance “was so much work.”
In the video, the 13-year-old is introduced to his party guests by several burlesque dancers swinging around to the song Show Me How You Burlesque by Christina Aguilera .
The teen then emerged from a chandelier to join the dancers in a well-choreographed piece to Jennifer Lopez’s Dance Again, featuring Pitbull. The elaborate Bar Mitzvah dance entrance was a joint effort between Sam Horowitz and his mom, Angela. They had the idea after seeing a show where dancers were popping out of chandeliers.
So, they got to work. The teenager explained that he practiced every weekend for three hours for an entire month. They added extra rehearsals as the show got closer to include the dancers and the chandelier.
And the outcome was fantastic for Horowitz, who commented that the celebration “was the best day of my entire life.” But it wasn’t just the performance that thrilled the teen, it was also the party, which was special to him. He added “It’s really about the service, and it took two years to prepare for that.”
