Royal Baby Born: Kate Middleton Gives Birth To Baby Boy

The Royal baby is born! Kate Middleton has given birth to a baby boy, making it so a prince will be third in line for the throne. The palace revealed the news at 8 pm local time following Kate’s labor, which lasted about 14 hours.

The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to the hospital just before 6 am local time on Monday in the early stages of labor. The infant was born at 4:24 pm local time, weighing in at eight pounds and six ounces.

According to the official announcement, the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, was present for the birth of his son. Both mother and baby will stay in the hospital overnight, meaning we could get our first glimpse of the future king on Tuesday.

As per tradition, Prince William called Queen Elizabeth II to let her know the royal baby was born, notifying her that wife Kate Middleton had given birth to the boy. The announcement by the Palace added that The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry, and members of both families were delighted with the news of the royal baby’s birth.

The future king’s birth was supposed to be announced in a formal declaration placed on an easel in front of Buckingham Palace. However, the Palace decided to release the news to the media first . Now that he has been born, the Prince will take his place as third in line for the British throne after his father and grandfather, Prince Charles.

The royal baby is the first grandchild for both sides of the family. Photographers initially spotted royal vehicles early Monday morning, but Kate Middleton’s arrival at the hospital wasn’t announced to the media until an hour and a half later. At that time, crowds began to gather both outside the hospital and Buckingham Palace, awaiting news that The Duchess of Cambridge had given birth.
