Robert Griffin III hurt his knee during the fourth quarter today and had to leave the field. The Washington Redskins were able to hold on for a 31-28 overtime victory over the Baltimore Ravens but the victory was marred by Griffin’s injury.
According to Sports Illustrated , Griffin was hit by Baltimore DT Haloti Ngata and hyper-extended his knee. The quarterback was able to walk off the field. RG III talked to trainers on the sidelines and then returned to the field for a few plays. The pain eventually became too much, however, and Griffin had to be helped off the field.
RG III said: “I wanted them to know I wanted to go back in and I did.”
The rookie quarterback talked to the media after the game and said that he was confident about his condition for next week. Griffin said that it didn’t feel like he tore his ACL but he’ll have to get an MRI to make sure. The rookie quarterback, who was the number two pick in the NFL draft, tore his ACL in 2009.
Griffin said: “(The injury) shouldn’t be an ACL. I know what that feels like.”

The Redskins will be hurting if RG III’s injury is serious but backup quarterback Kirk Cousins may be able to fill the void. Cousins threw a touchdown pass and then ran in a two point conversion to send the game into overtime today.
