Rob Mills, the Australian singer and actor who first came to stardom in the inaugural season of Australian Idol , has revealed the meticulous preparation that he went through to develop his enviable physique for his romantic role in Ghost the Musical , a musical based on the 1990 romantic movie of the same name.

Rob Mills reprises the role of the late Patrick Swayze, who played the lead role in the original Hollywood movie, and the Australian actor has done his best to develop a muscular physique similar to that flaunted by Swayze when he featured in the 1990 movie. According to the Daily Telegraph , Rob Mills stressed upon the importance of looking impressive in the role that first established Patrick Swayze as a muscular heartthrob .
“If you have to take your shirt off in the first five minutes of a play in front of that many people you want to look the part.”
In his pursuit to develop a well-toned body, Rob Mills was helped by Adam Pedicini, the Sydney-based fitness trainer and actor who created a fitness schedule that helped Mills achieve his goal. As a part of the schedule, Rob Mills worked out in Pedicini’s Paddington-based gym and pursued outdoor fitness activities near his Clovelly flat.
According to the Daily Telegraph , the fitness instructor spoke about how Tabata, the high-intensity fitness workout, played a key role in Rob Mills’ training:
“We did lots of Tabata sessions, which means 40 seconds of high-intense work with 20 seconds of recovery, doing five or six exercises back to back.”
Additionally, the instructor put restrictions on Rob Mills’ eating habits, forbidding him to visit fast food chains and attempting to curb his hunger pangs by eating apples. At Pedicini’s insistence, Rob Mills became a teetotaler while eating a diet that was rich in protein and low in sugar. Additionally, Rob Mills turned towards intermittent fasting and particularly paid attention to his diet during stressful periods. Even though he is keeping himself fit for the role by following his fitness regime and jogging up to seven kilometers every day, the “Control” singer confessed that he occasionally treated himself to an ice cream.

Life hasn’t been a bed of roses for the charismatic Rob Mills, a Melbourne native, who loved to make music and play Australian Rules football during his childhood days. The “Every Single Day” singer continued to pursue his passion for music by singing in school concerts and playing with bands, and in 2003 the budding singer’s dream came true when he rose to prominence by becoming one of the finalists in the first season of Australian Idol .
It may come as a shock to many, but the singing sensation actually thought about committing suicide a week after the finals of the Australian Idol . Rob Mills’ unprecedented fame left him in a depressive state of mind as he began to realize that short-lived fame creates a void that can only be filled with creative pursuits.

According to Yahoo! , Rob Mills has since urged his fans to follow their dreams and leave their mark rather than chasing momentary fame .
“I think you should want to travel to the moon, you should want to design something the world has never seen before. Or be an elite athlete, or a scientist, or a politician.”
That same year, Rob Mills became romantically involved with Paris Hilton, the American socialite, with whom he attended Melbourne races, hotels, and also his old “asbestos shack” in the Box Hill area, all while under the attentive eye of the world’s media. According to the Sydney Morning Herald , Rob Mills’ relationship with the hotel chain tycoon’s pampered daughter came to an end when her sex tapes were leaked to the public.

Despite being a short-lived affair, Rob Mills’ romantic liaison with the heiress of the Hilton Hotel empire had a big impact on the young singer and remains one of the most talked-about romantic affairs in Australian show business history. Rob Mills is now enjoying a long-term relationship with Ellen Simpson, the Australian dancer and actor.
