Rick Ross Accused Of Being A ‘Fake Thug’

It isn’t so easy being rapper Rick Ross. Being a thug has been the status quo for some rappers that want respect in the industry, but according to one act, Ross is “faking it” to make it.

Currently the rapper is embroiled in a lawsuit with pop/rap duo LMFAO over their hit song “Party Rock Anthem.” The contentious lawsuit has resulted in LMFAO duo being quoted as saying that Rick Ross is a “fake thug.”

TMZ captured LMFAO member Redfoo on tape outside of a club in Los Angeles, and that’s when Rick Ross came up as a topic of conversation. The LMFAO member couldn’t comment on the actual specifics of the lawsuit that’s currently going on about the similar material, but he did profess his love for Rick Ross’ songs and claimed that even though Rick Ross “always wins” he’s confident that LMFAO will win in court.

Redfoo told TMZ :

“I got love for Rick Ross, that’s real…and honestly I think it’s a misunderstanding. I know if me and Rick got on the phone, if we met in person we would talk about some stuff…it’d be over, and I’m willing to do that.”

Although he couldn’t specifically talk about the lawsuit the LMFAO member did say that he’s willing to play nice.

“I’m willing to talk because it’s all about creativity and moving forward.”

The LMFAO partner seems to have calmed down from his original claims at Rick Ross. Here’s where the interesting part comes in: back in December the group shot back that their material was fair game because Ross was doing the same thing. As part of their defense, LMFAO’s legal argument over the group allegedly lifting lyrics from Rick Ross’ 2006 track “Hustlin” asserts that Rick Ross is not a thug at all. Rick Ross, who was a former corrections officer is being accused by the group of building a fake “bad-ass” persona to gain credit within the rap community.

This isn’t the only legal dispute Rick Ross is involved in. Ross is being sued for copying photos from a famous hip hop photographer. Armen Djerrahian claimed that photos he shot of Ross are being used illegally and without his permission. The famous photographer is accusing Rick Ross of using the photos on posters, ads, and mixtapes without giving him proper commission for his work. Looks like this lawsuit will just be another added in the pile of legal disputes.
