Rebel Wilson And Melissa McCarthy Make Weight Inspired Pact

Rebel Wilson and Melissa McCarthy have a lot of things in common. For starters the ladies broke down barriers for their generation and have found their way into terrific comedies. Secondly, they have both received pushback from critics concerning their weight. Obviously there was only one way to fix the latter, and that was not by grabbing a bowflex but by making a collective pact together .

McCarthy and Wilson agreed to make a pact not to lose weight. According to Radar Online the two want to stay large as a form of empowerment in the industry that they’re now prominent in. “Neither one of them is trying to lose weight and they’ve formed this little support group to keep each other from falling into the skinny Hollywood trap.”

We’re wondering if this skinny Hollywood trap is because of the skinny-obsessed society the film industry has created by hiring a ton of skeletal female leads in powerful positions, while the heavier women are usually more submissive in most films. In the case of Rebel Wilson and Melissa McCarthy both women have lead the packs of ensembles and their characters usually never go down without a fight.

Currently the two lead their own television comedies. While McCarthy has been on the successful show Mike & Molly for sometime, Wilson is in the first season of her show Super Fun Night . Because they have so much in common, a source has claimed that the two are now very close with each other.

“Rebel and Melissa have known each other for five years and there’s a lot of love there. Right now they’re agreeing with each other that they have to hold the line and provide a positive image for overweight girls everywhere.”

Obviously McCarthy probably has more ammunition for this cause as she was called out for using her weight as a comedic crutch by film critic Rex Reed . At the time Reed called the actress a “female hippo,” which McCarthy responded to in an interview with The New York Times, having said she “felt bad for someone with is swimming in so much hate.”
