Ray Rice has at least one thing to be thankful for this holiday season 00 his indefinite suspension from the NFL has been officially overturned.
According to a judge’s recent ruling, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell abused his authority after changing the disciplinary action taken against Ray Rice from a two-game suspension to an indefinite punishment.
TMZ reports that Ray Rice was completely honest within Roger Goodell during the initial interview, and U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones believed that he did not have the right to make any changes to that punishment once it had been enforced.
“Rice did not mislead the Commissioner at the June 16th meeting, and therefore, that the imposition of a second suspension based on the same incident and the same known facts about the incident was arbitrary.”
Jones continued her statement by expressing the need for Roger Goodell “to be fair and consistent” in his position as NFL Commissioner when it came to discipline. Jones further stated that the misunderstanding of the extent of the violence involved with the violent incident in question was not due to the way that Ray Rice described the event.
On the contrary, Jones believes that it has more to do with “the inadequacy of words to convey the seriousness of domestic violence.”
“That the League did not realize the severity of the conduct without a visual record also speaks to their admitted failure in the past to sanction this type of conduct more severely.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Ray Rice was suspended from the NFL indefinitely shortly after the uncensored video footage of Ray hitting his wife in an elevator was first released online by TMZ .
Even though Ray Rice is no longer suspended from the NFL, the 27-year-old running back still does not have a team . The Baltimore Ravens released Ray Rice just a few hours after the elevator footage was released by TMZ .
In an interview that was initially released by ESPN , Ray Rice’s wife, Janay, was able to open up and speak honestly about her feelings on her husband’s release.
“I was extremely surprised and angry that the Ravens released him, because they know him. They were our family, but I felt like the Ravens completely disregarded the past six years with him.”
Now that Ray Rice is no longer suspended from the NFL, he has a chance to get back out on the field.
However, many fans and critics believe that finding a new NFL team for Rice will be a lot harder than he might think. With the bad press and overall negativity that will follow the former Rutgers student, do you think that an NFL team will give Ray Rice another chance?
