Chelsea FC striker Rademel Falcao hasn’t received the opportunity he feels he deserves to show the most popular team in the Premier League that he should keep his spot on their roster. Struggling to revive his career after suffering an ACL injury two years ago, Falcao is currently on loan to Chelsea FC from Monaco of Ligue 1 in France, after spending last season with Manchester United. Suffering a second injury in October, it has been reported that Falcao faced yet another setback during his recovery, further hindering his chances of finishing the season with Chelsea. Less than three years after signing the most expensive contract in the history of AS Monaco (€60 million / $65 million), the footballer is now reportedly being looked at by Columbus Crew FC of the MLS and Club América of Liga MX in Mexico.

Radamel Falcao’s initial injury came in January of 2014 in a match against Monts d’Or Azergues in the French Cup. Soner Ertek challenged the striker from behind, resulting in the ACL injury that would keep Falcao out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Initially optimistic that the injury would only keep him out 2-4 months, ESPN reports that Falcao wouldn’t return to the pitch for six months. His first competitive match back with Monaco was August 10. By September 2, it had been confirmed that he would be on loan to Manchester United for a season in the Premier League.
Now on loan to Chelsea, Falcao suffered an injury to his thigh muscle at the end of October, confirming on November 3 that he would be out of action for a few weeks. Just as he was anticipating a return, it was announced recently that he re-injured himself while training.

Radamel hasn’t had much of an impact at Chelsea, who is off to their worst start in Premier League history. Having played in ten games as a striker for the Blues, Falcao only scored one goal. He came in as a substitute in nine of those games. As Chelsea FC look to turn things around, the Colombian — once voted 11th best soccer player in the world — could be the first casualty.

Chelsea manager Guss Hiddink has admitted that cutting Falcao’s contract certainly isn’t out of the question.
“We had him in a game and all of a sudden he got again an injury he has had before… He was out, the medical staff were trying to build him up, then he had a setback. It’s not always possible to signal but we hope that within 10 days he will be fit again.”
As noted by the Westfield Times , Hiddink also noted that Falcao appears to be “back to square one” in terms of his latest injury, so 10 days might be a little optimistic. But if things don’t work out for Falcao in the Premier League, rumor has it that both Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer and Club América of Liga MX in Mexico are keeping close tabs on Radamel’s injury and recovery. Falcao’s next stint could be in North America.

The beginning of talks about Falcao possibly coming to the Columbus Crew started when he had a conversation with former teammate Federico Higuain, who currently plays for the Columbus Crew FC. Just last month, the Columbus Crew lost the MLS Cup 2-1 to the Portland Timbers.
While Falcao may be out of their price range, Club América of Liga MX could be the next team in the Mexican league to sign European talent, such as André-Pierre Gignac who signed with Tigres UANL last season, helping them win the Liga MX Primera División Championship.

While all of this is still up in the air, Radamel Falcao is adamant that he wants to remain a part of the Blues.
“I want to be part of the team. The idea is take the time that is necessary for a recovery. I want to be again in the pitch making goals.”
Now it’s up to Guss Hiddink and the rest of the Chelsea FC leadership to decide if Falcao will remain in Stamford Bridge, break new ground in North America, or head back to Monaco in France.
