The travails of the PlayStation Network continued into Monday evening as PS4 owners still reported problems with logging on, playing online games, or accessing the PlayStation Store. Sony has responded with network updates and an extension to a PSN Flash Sale. However, some users are still reporting problems as of Tuesday morning. Should PS Plus subscribers who have been unable to access the PlayStation Network since Christmas expect any sort of compensation?
The Ask PlayStation Twitter support account notified PS4 owners of a network update Monday evening that would allow users to not have to try a workaround. The workaround, which involves changing the MTU setting on the console, is detailed in this article I wrote for Inquisitr .
Update for PS4 users: We’ve made recent updates to the network that should allow you to sign in without changing MTU settings.

Sony also announced Tuesday morning that the PlayStation Store Flash Sale was being extended to New Year’s Eve. Many PS4, PS3, and PS Vita owners have been unable to take advantage of any of these deals due to the issues with the PlayStation Network.

Note that the PlayStation Store Flash Sale is also available on the web for those that are still having problems connecting via their console.
The PlayStation network issues do appear to be subsiding, though not completely solved. The number of complaints of not being able to sign in or access features has dramatically slowed down on gaming forums such as the PS4 Reddit group and NeoGAF . It’s still not working for everyone though, as reading through a PlayStation Community link provided by PlayStation support can attest.
If you are still having any issues signing on to PSN, please post here with the details requested: http://t.co/60gXTxzanV

Should PlayStation Plus subscribers expect any compensation for the time that PSN has been down? It seems doubtful. The PS Plus Terms of Service spell out that there is no guarantee that service will always be available.
No warranty is given about the quality, functionality, availability or performance of SEN First Party Services, or any content or service offered on or through SEN First Party Services. All services and content are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” with all faults. SNEI does not warrant that the service and content will be uninterrupted, error-free or without delays. In addition to the limitations of liability of this Agreement, SNEI expressly disclaims any implied warranty of merchantability, warranty of fitness for a particular purpose and warranty of non-infringement. SNEI assumes no liability for any inability to purchase, access, download or use any content, data or service.
Additionally, some PS Plus subscribers on Reddit have reported calling into Sony support asking about receiving credit for the days PSN has been offline. The response from Sony support has been to not offer any sort of extension.
It’s possible Sony could come back with compensation for all PS Plus subscribers once the network issues have been fully resolved. Microsoft recently did the same for those that purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection by offering a month’s worth of Xbox LIVE Gold to everyone who tried to play the game prior to November 29.
