PS4 Bundle Walmart: Man Buys PlayStation 4, But Something Else Is In The Box

A PS4 bundle Walmart deal allegedly went horribly wrong for Igor Baksht and his niece this Christmas. After bringing his purchase home, he followed the advice of the associate and opened the box ahead of time, only to find disappointment waiting.

When Baksht had purchased the item, a Walmart employee had allegedly remarked that the box felt heavier than he remembered, but the well-meaning Stapleton, Colorado, consumer allegedly thought nothing of it and completed the PS4 bundle Walmart purchase. The same employee had also allegedly told him that another customer had returned it prior to his arrival.

This was one PlayStation 4 owner whose biggest problem was not PSN being taken down by DDoS attacks, which Lizard Squad took credit for. What was in the box wasn’t what he thought it was.

When Baksht opened the PS4 bundle from Walmart, Design and Trend reports there was no console inside. What he allegedly found were two bags of carefully packaged rocks.

The Walmart associates Baksht met with upon his return allegedly refused to accept it, thinking it was an elaborate scam.

Infuriated, Igor Baksht returned home and called the Walmart corporate offices and explained his situation, and then they agreed to give him a full refund.

Walmart stores have also fallen prey to scams, having had consumers use their online price matching policy combined with a carefully set up online price to score their PS4 bundle deals for as little as $90. Several have even seen similar electronic items also returned containing rocks instead.

Igor Baksht told the local press about his PS4 bundle Walmart experience.

“Just to make sure everything was inside, that all the contents were inside, all the games were inside. When I opened it, I said, ‘Oh my God.’… I couldn’t go back [where I purchased the PlayStation 4 bundle] because they already were closed.”

Baksht explained that he tried returning the item to a 24-hour Walmart, only to be denied because he needed to return it to the store where he’d made the purchase. He told the press about his final deal with the Walmart store, according to KSHB .

“I never stole anything in my life. The most criminal thing that I’ve [done], I got a driving ticket… If they give me a PlayStation, I’ll take a PlayStation if they give me the same bundle that I paid for. If they give me another console plus two [PlayStation 4] games, I’ll take that, but if they don’t have it, I’ll take the money back and buy it from somebody else.”

Worse things have happened in the past as well. One man had paid for a brand new Xbox One at launch after learning it had been sold out. Upon receiving his eBay order, in an envelope, he opened it to find nothing but a badly printed picture of the console’s box, as previously reported by the Inquisitr .

All parties, including the local press, were skeptical of Baksht’s story about the PS4 bundle Walmart purchase. Do you think his story was honest and legitimate, or yet another elaborate scam?
