Production Crew On James Bond ‘Spectre’ Cleaned Up Rome Before Shooting

Work continues on the next James Bond movie, Spectre , and the focus on the movie’s production has shifted over to Rome, Italy, where one car chase and the interesting acts of the film crew have caught the attention of many.

The recent Daniel Craig Bond movies had the opportunities to shoot in many beautiful locals, and unless a scene called for it, the locations used throughout the movies would be rather pristine. City streets, beaches, hotels, casinos — if any of those places appeared as a setting for Bond to charm or fight his way through, it was portrayed as a classy establishment that’s also kept in the best conditions possible.

Which bring us to Rome and the work the Bond 24 film crew put into the city before shooting. Reportedly, the crew worked with the city council to remove and clean up the graffiti found in various locations, as well as provide food for the homeless. The Telegraph also writes that the crew called in their own private security firms, a surprising move that resulted in the removal of an untold number of non-licensed parking attendants.

There’s something to be said about how appealing it is to work on a James Bond film, be it as part of the crew or as a group offering help from a distance. Bond’s popularity is so great that police officers and council workers turned up in droves (the highest seen in Rome, recently) to do their jobs. The gesture is somewhat lessened, however, when you learn that overtime bonuses were offered to them.

When filming for Spectre was taking place, a car chase between an Aston Martin DB10 and a Jaguar C-X75 is sure to have kept a few people up at night, if only to see the action unfold months before the movie’s release. The latter of the two vehicles is believed to be driven by Dave Bautista’s Mr. Hinx , with Bond, of course, behind the wheel of the Aston Martin.

The pair of expensive cars have kept to areas around Vatican City , according to the Daily Mail , with parts of central Rome being closed off in the process. No one on set probably wants either of those cars to have to interact with the rest of world and possibly interfere with the chase sequence.

James Bond’s next adventure is once again directed by Skyfall director Sam Mendes. It’s currently set to hit theaters on November 6, 2015.
