The new PlayStation 4 controller will feature a front-facing touchpad according to a new tip from VG247 .
According to the report the touchpad will force Sony to move the original controllers Start and Select buttons into new positions on the gamepad.
A previous report by Gamespot focused on a rear side touchpad that more closely resembled the setup on the Sony PlayStation Vita.
Other than featuring the new front side touchpad, the Sony Playstation 4 controller is expected to retain most of the design found on the current DualShock controller. The source claims the L2 and R2 buttons have been remodeled “for the better,” although they did not explain the remodel any further.
Several sources recently claimed that Sony would also offer a “Share” button for their new remote. That rumor has been shot down and was never confirmed by Sony. The Share button it was believed would allow users to post about their gameplay while sharing screenshots.
Next week Sony will hold a press conference in New York City where the company is expected to announce the arrival of the Sony PlayStation 4. Sony has not confirmed the launch and no further details have been made available at this time.
Several reports in the last month have claimed that Sony could delay the Playstation 4 until late 2013 or possibly early 2014. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is also expected to launch by years end or Q1 2014, although no confirmation for either console has been given.
