Playboy model Katie May passed away from a stroke, following a fall that occurred during a photo shoot. Katie May, who had also earned the title of “Queen of Snapchat,” had been to see her chiropractor on two separate occasions following the fall, but it’s believed that she had not yet been to visit a medical doctor. The stroke that claimed May’s life occurred just three days after the fall, leading to the supposition that she had suffered internal damage, as a result of the modeling accident.
The Playboy Accident That Might Have Ended Katie May’s Life
The 34-year-old Katie May was active online and also with her modeling career, posing for Sports Illustrated as well as for Playboy . She kept in shape with friend Christina Passanisi, who has helped May prepare for gigs over the past give years . Christina says she’s shocked that something like this could happen to someone as young as the Playboy model.
“It is so sudden and so sad and so tragic,” said Passanisi. “She was almost like a phenomenon. She was just capable of juggling so many things and doing it effortlessly. She really was just a unique and special individual.”
On Thursday, the L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office confirmed that Katie died three days after suffering the stroke, leaving behind a 7 year old daughter, Mia.
Following her first visit to a chiropractor, Katie May tweeted her condition to her followers.
“Pinched a nerve in my neck on a photoshoot and got adjusted this morning. It really hurts!”
Although the tweet was deleted shortly after it had been posted, one follower who had seen the post asked about the Playboy model’s neck on the following day. May responded by thanking the fan for asking and telling him that she was still experiencing pain. Katie added that she had plans to go back to her chiropractor for a follow-up session.
Katie May Should Have Visited A Medical Doctor
While May did see her chiropractor, it’s believed that the model and social media celebrity failed to seek attention from licensed medical professionals. The model’s family were unable to confirm any doctor’s appointments, following the fall that instigated May’s stroke.
“To the best of my family’s knowledge, and we are fairly but not totally certain of this, Katie did not seek medical care prior to Monday evening; if she had, it seems reasonable to conclude, the subsequent days would have unfolded very differently,” said Stephen May, Katie’s brother.
Stephen says Katie May never described the conditions, surrounding her fall, so the family can’t speak of what may have caused the fall or how serious the fall might have been. The Playboy model’s brother added that he feels, whatever happened, that accident was linked to the injuries and to the stroke later suffered by his sister.
“Katie was a star in every sense of the word and I’ll never stop missing her,” Stephen said.
It has been said that Mia was Katie’s whole world and the May family is now utilizing the GoFundMe website in the hopes of raising $100,000 to help offset the costs of educating and raising Mia. The family has already raised $11,400 on the fundraising site.

Even after the accident and throughout the ensuing pain and discomfort, Katie May continued working, modeling, and connecting with her millions of fans . The morning preceding her death, May posted a photograph of herself in a bikini on Instagram, wishing all of her followers a “great Monday.”
