Phil Robertson: Gay Professor Supports Duck Commander, Decries Liberals As ‘Stalinist’

Phil Robertson has a gay professor at his back, which seems like an odd place for the Duck Dynasty star to receive support.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , some Phil fans are saying A&E network should have Duck Dynasty cancelled so the family can move onto a more Christian friendly network .

While many in the media have derided Phil and his family for their strong stance on the Bible, Camille Paglia, an openly gay, feminist professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, believes our culture has become way too politically correct :

“I speak with authority here, because I was openly gay before the ‘Stonewall rebellion,’ when it cost you something to be so…. If people are basing their views against gays on the Bible, again they have a right of religious freedom there. To express yourself in a magazine in an interview — this is the level of punitive PC, utterly fascist, utterly Stalinist, OK, that my liberal colleagues in the Democratic Party and on college campuses have supported and promoted over the last several decades. This is the whole legacy of free speech 1960’s that have been lost by my own party…. I think that this intolerance by gay activists toward the full spectrum of human beliefs is a sign of immaturity, juvenility.”

After the announcement of the suspension of Phil by A&E, Duck Dynasty fans began petitioning the network as well as threatening a boycott . Fans started a Facebook page in support of the Duck Commander and in one day they’ve generated over 1.5 million likes, which is as significant portion of the 9.6 million Duck Dynasty viewers.

Interestingly enough, some of the Facebook comments on the A&E petition page include people supporting Phil who are part of the LGBT community:

“I for one (a GAY man) WILL stand behind Phil for expressing and believing his values even though not mine, that’s fine. People (A&E) need to get over themselves. Phil may not be Politically correct, but, he speaks his mind, there is no grey area with him and for that I RESPECT the man.”

Do you that the reaction by A&E to the Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has been overly politically correct?
