Phil Robertson Defends Beliefs, Says People Have A Problem With God Not Him

Phil Robertson has spoken out and defended himself after making some extremely controversial remarks in his interview with GQ Magazine . The Duck Dynasty star admitted to Us Weekly that he isn’t perfect and that he has made mistakes in his life , but the things that he has said are really just what’s in the Bible. So he’s sorry… but he’s really not sorry.

“I don’t worry too much about people hating or insulting me. I’m a sinful man, and I’ve made a lot of mistakes. People have reason to hate me. All I did was quote a passage of scripture from antiquity. They’re mad at me, but I’m really just quoting what God said, so He’s the one they have a problem with.”

Phil Robertson has been taking some heat for his recent comments on ISIS. According to The Inquisitr , Phil sat down for an interview with Sean Hannity on Tuesday night. The two discussed the latest ISIS terror threat , and when asked about a possible solution, Phil had what some might consider a simple solution.

“In this case, you either have to convert them, which I think is – would be – next to impossible. I’m not giving up on ’em, I’m just saying either convert them…or kill them.”

While Hannity knew that the media would harp on the phrase “convert them or kill them,” Phil didn’t seem to care.

“I’d rather have a Bible study with them,” he said.

Phil Robertson recently did an interview on Good Morning America, in which he compared himself to Jesus… which really isn’t all that surprising. According to Mediaite , Phil has repeatedly said that he “ doesn’t hate anybody ,” and that his beliefs and feelings are strictly based on what he reads in the Bible — something that he never leaves home without. So, when he talks about homosexual people… and terrorists… and people who aren’t Christians… it’s just because that is what he has been taught based on his readings of scripture. But that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love them.

“The only place that I know of that I could have gone to answer that question would be a Bible. The dictionary wouldn’t have explained it. An encyclopedia wouldn’t have explained it, whether it was a sin or not. So I went to the only source I had to answer his question… I’m as much of a homophobe as Jesus was. People who are participating in homosexual behavior, they need to know that I love them.”

Are you a Phil Robertson fan? Do you think that his controversial remarks have ruined his overall reputation?
