Since Paul Walker’s death, word has circulated around Hollywood about his younger brother Cody possibly taking his place by shooting the last half of the next Fast & Furious installment. While we don’t know if Cody has officially signed up to take his older brother’s place in the action packed franchise, we do know that Cody has decided to carry on Paul’s legacy by assuming the role of brand manager at Paul’s charity Reach Out WorldWide .
Cody Walker took to Instagram and Facebook on Sunday to announce his plans going forth with Reach Out WorldWide, and included a photo of the three Walker brothers. The youngest Walker brother wrote via his handle @codywalkerroww:
“It is with great honor that I have decided to join the ROWW team as Brand Manager. I look forward to working with like-minded individuals and partners to ensure ROWW continues to aid those in need in the years to come. As Paul would say ‘when you put good will out there, it’s amazing what can be accomplished.’ We can all make a difference in this world and I am honored to join the ROWW team in fulfilling my brother’s legacy and ensure that the good my brother did lives on.”
Cody Walker also took the time out to thank fans of Paul for how they have reached out to the family in the wake of Walker’s death.
“My family and I truly appreciate the support we have received during this difficult time. One of the many things I admired about my brother was his genuine desire to help others in need.”
Paul Walker perished in a fatal car accident on November 30, 2013 while attending a charity function for his company Reach Out WorldWide. On that day Walker was wrapping up a successful day in aiding the Typhoon Haiyan victims. He and his business partner Roger Rodas decided to take Rodas’ red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT out for a spin around the block when the accident occurred. With Walker in the passenger seat, the car crashed into a light pole and a tree before exploding into flames. It is believed that the car was going 100 miles per hour, and while Rodas was said to have died on impact, authorities determined that Walker suffered from traumatic and thermal injuries.
According to the official statement on Walker’s Reach Out WorldWide site, the actor decided to establish the organization when he “saw a gap between the availability of skilled resources and the requirement for such personnel in post-disaster situations. Following the trip he contacted a group of his friends to assist him in forming ROWW with the purpose of filling this unmet need.”
Currently proceeds of the Fast & Furious 6 DVD are being donated to Reach Out WorldWide in honor of Paul Walker’s memory.
