As the Patriots sign Tim Tebow the New England football team has not yet made it clear what their plans for the former Broncos quarterback are.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , before the Patriots signed Tim Tebow it was widely rumored that Tim Tebow’s NFL career was over. Some people thought Tim Tebow would give up, but his father said to not believe any of those rumors.
The Tim Tebow Patriots rumors showed that New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was considering Tim Tebow as an option despite reports of Belichick “hating” Tim Tebow:
“I wouldn’t get into the probability of us pursuing any free agent. Every single player has strengths and weaknesses but regardless of that, for anyone to have represented that is the way I feel about Tim Tebow is completely untrue, baseless and irresponsible. It is unfortunate that something so inaccurate was reported.”
At one point people were saying Tim Tebow was blackballed from the NFL because of all the media hoopla. Former Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist seems to think the Patriots signing Tim Tebow will work out:
”If you can find a club that’s mature enough to handle it as an organization, then you’re going to find the right spot for him. What I mean by that is all the media mania and that sort of thing. The club says, ‘Look, this is the reason we’re bringing him on. We feel he can bring X, Y, Z and A, B, C to the table.’ Explain it to Tim, explain it to the media, explain it to your fan base and explain it to your organization.”
Despite all the media attention, as a quarterback Tim Tebow has 29 touchdowns and 15 turnovers in three seasons. Tim Tebow’s career with the Jets was pretty dismal, finishing the season with just eight passing attempts for 39 yards and zero touchdowns.
The New England Patriot’s current quarterback, Tom Brady, is a future Hall-of-Famer entering his 14th season. Brady has a career totals of 44,806 passing yards and 334 touchdowns against just 123 interceptions. So even if the Patriots sign Tim Tebow they’re unlikely to replace Tom Brady. Never mind, backup Ryan Mallett is well regarded as a quarterback, so if Tim Tebow were to ever become quarterback at the Patriots the other two would have to be injured first (jinx?).
So if the Patriots sign Tim Tebow they’re likely to ask him to play as a hybrid fullback/tight end; otherwise known as an H-back. Although, it’s likely Tim Tebow will continue to study as a quarterback.
Despite the limitations Tim Tebow will face at the Patriots football fans are already lining up on Twitter to criticize the former Broncos quarterback:
My deepest condolences for everyone who covers the #Patriots . #TebowTime
