The mother of one of the four men killed in anti-American violence in Benghazi, Libya, says the Obama administration sat on its hands instead of deploying a rescue team and therefore was responsible for the murders.
Four men were killed in the terrorist attack: Ambassador Christopher Stevens, State Department official Sean Smith, and ex-Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , despite numerous calls for help, no military backup was sent to the besieged Americans at the consulate.
Given what happened in Benghazi, Smith’s mother Pat Smith (who, like her son, voted for Barack Obama in 2008) told the San Diego Union-Tribune the following:
“I believe that Obama murdered my son. I firmly believe this.”
Charles Woods, Tyrone Wood’s father, expressed somewhat similar sentiments:
“I’m a retired attorney, and I know that these actions legally do not constitute murder. But in my mind the people in the White House, all of them who have authority to send in reinforcements to prevent what they knew was going to be the death of my son, are guilty of murdering my son.”
Earlier this month, when the president described the murders in Benghazi as “ not optimal ,” Smith didn’t sugarcoat her feelings:
“It’s insensitive to say my son is not very optimal — he is also very dead. I’ve not been ‘optimal’ since he died and the past few weeks have been pure hell.”
New revelations seem to emerge every day about the Libyan attack. The White House has been accused of stonewalling the investigation into what happened at the Benghazi consulate particularly since there were warnings ahead of time about impending violence including from the ambassador himself . In the meantime, the CIA, State Department, and Defense Department seem to be engaging in a lot of finger pointing and blame shifting.
The Washington Post concluded an editorial about the Benghazi security breakdown as follows:
“While the agencies separately defend themselves — or not — the White House appears determined to put off any serious discussion of Benghazi until after the election. Sooner or later, however, the administration must answer questions about what increasingly looks like a major security failure — and about the policies that led to it.”
