Earlier this year, it was made known that Park Shin Hye would be collaborating with Super Junior to show South Korea’s Jeju Island as a viable tourist location for foreigners. This includes the emphasis of cleanliness, openness, and even simplicity, three things that are somewhat lacking in urbanized areas of Korea such as the city of Seoul. As for the cast, Shin Hye was chosen for being Korea’s most popular actress at the moment while Super Junior (though they just cast Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, and Donghae) is one of the most popular K-pop groups as well as being one of the big three back in 2007 and 2008.
Now the wait is over as the video of Park Shin Hye and Super Junior presenting Jeju Island to foreign tourists has now been released. It is attached below for your enjoyment.
As shown from the video above, which was uploaded by Lotte Duty Free (though the above video is all the episodes combined thanks to Park Shin Hye Arab Fan Club). There are a total of five episodes in which Park Shin Hye and Super Junior take viewers on a “beginning of a lyrical journey” of Jeju Island. The first episode shows Super Junior enjoying the pristine waters and clean air via boating or air gliding. The second episode show Shin Hye experiencing the beaches and open fields. The third episode showcases the tourist attractions via bicycling. The fourth episode shows the island’s diversity through a get-together setting. Finally, the fifth episode shows the tourist area and night life.
The episodes are produced well and truly capture what it is like to be on Jeju Island. But as mentioned earlier, its purpose is to attract foreigners as a viable location for vacations . That is why Lotte Duty Free, Korea’s largest duty-free store chain, is the ones who made it. As a matter of fact, the video is also given subtitle options in English, Mandarin, and Japanese on YouTube, as reported by KdramaStars .
Since the videos were just released, it cannot be measured how successful they were at this moment. However, if it is any indication, the last time Lotte Duty Free produced a video with Park Shin Hye (with Jang Geun Seuk), it was the most successful campaign they had. By happenstance, that video also featured Jeju Island.
