Following a successful outing at this year’s People’s Choice Awards , Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have already expressed their gratitude to fans. In a flurry of social media activity, the two stars thanked Outlander’s loyal fanbase for voting in the show for two awards in the ceremony.

For her part as Claire in the hit time traveling series, Scotland Now is reporting that Balfe took home the award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress. At the same time, the show itself managed to snag the award for Favorite Cable TV Sci-fi/Fantasy show.

In order to celebrate the awards, Balfe took to social media and thanked fans for voting for her in the competition.

“Ahhhhhhh. You guys are so amazing!!!! Thank you all for voting… I am so grateful #beatfansever #OutlanderPCA2016,” she wrote on Twitter . “Best fans. BEST fans…. Clumsy thumbs…. Sorry!!!!!!”

Balfe won the award over a number of other notable actresses, including Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Lady Gaga, and Emilia Clarke.

Although Sam Heughan disappointedly failed to win in his category of Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor, he still showed his utmost support for Balfe and her win.

“Well done wifey @caitrionambalfe!! 1st of many well deserved awards! @peopleschoice #OutlanderFansDoEpicThings,” he posted to Twitter .

In addition to congratulating each other, both Balfe and Heughan took time to upload a video message on Outlander’s official Twitter page, further thanking fans for their support.

“We just want to say thank you so much to the fans. This is amazing,” Balfe state in the video, while Heughan added, “Yes. The People’s Choice Award. Thank you so much from everyone on Outlander , it’s a great achievement and one of the best awards because its voted in by you.”

The series as a whole managed to beat out stiff competition to win its very first People’s Choice Award. This included the likes of American Horror Story , Game of Thrones , The Walking Dead and Teen Wolf .

Meanwhile, the series has another chance to take home awards during the upcoming Golden Globes . Balfe and Tobias Menzies are up for the award in the categories of Best Drama Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. Unfortunately, Heughan will have to sit this one out, as he was not nominated for an award.

With Outlander having such a successful run in the past year, the show has a good shot at scoring big at the prestigious award ceremony. In fact, according to odds tracker Goldderby , Balfe’s chances of winning in her category are very good.

Balfe is up against Taraji P. Henson ( Empire ), Viola Davis ( How to Get Away With Murder ), Eva Green ( Penny Dreadful ), and Robin Wright ( House Cards ) for the award. Despite the tough competition, Balfe has 21/10 odds at winning the award, coming in second only to Henson at 10/9 odds.

As far as Outlander is concerned, the series will be facing some great competition in its category, including Mr. Robot , Empire , Game of Thrones , and Narcos . According to E! Online , the only show that has a realistic shot at beating Outlander is Mr. Robot .

Mr. Robot star Rami Malek has a very dedicated a fanbase, much like Outlander . Given the history of the award ceremony and its love for popular shows, it would not be all that surprising to see Mr. Robot win over Outlander .

That being said, Outlander is definitely the show the beat this year. With the possibility of winning three Golden Globes in its debut season, the show should at least walk away with one award if not all three.

The Golden Globes is set to air on January 10, 2016.
