With Outlander ‘s second season featuring Jaime ( Sam Heughan ) and Claire ( Caitriona Balfe ) moving to Paris, France, one cast member recently revealed that the new season will be all about political maneuvering, and will even involve a secret mission.
In an interview with Blastr , Heughan revealed that Jaime really engrossing himself into the political scene in Paris .
“Jamie’s thrown himself into it wholeheartedly… He’s in it, but he’s not relishing it at all. We see them slowly get better at [playing the game] and learn they can undercut people and be quite political themselves. Publicly he’s a good businessman and very charming, but in those late nights with Claire we see the mask come off. They are bonded mostly by their child, and it carries them through.”
Heughan went on to discuss how the couple’s attempt to change the outcome of history will become a sort of secret mission that will help the two bond following the events that happened in the first season.
“The idea they have of changing the future, she uses it like a mission and something for Jamie to put his focus and energy into so he’s not dwelling on what’s happened… In a way she sacrificed herself a little bit because she’s dealing with her pregnancy on her own in a way. They are going through a very complicated time in their relationship. It’s not an easy time for them, but it’s beautiful to watch how they figure out a way to support each other.”
Meanwhile, with filming for the second season currently underway, many fans are anxious to learn when the new season will premiere. Sadly, Starz has yet to announce an official premiere date for Outlander’s new season.
However, according to Carter Matt , the new season may be set to premiere sometime in March or April of 2016. The reasoning behind this has a lot to do with the schedule of other shows on the network, including Black Sails .
Starz is known for not having two shows competing with each other at the same time, and with Black Sails likely to begin its new season in January, it makes sense that Outlander would premiere shortly after that concludes, which would be in March or April.
Whatever the case may be, it is known that Season 2 of Outlander will be made up of 13 episodes and will likely be aired as one continuous run rather than split up into two parts.
