More photos from the filming of Outlander’s second season have recently surfaced, offering a glimpse at how some of the characters will look as the series heads to Paris, France. Production for the new season has started up again in Glasgow, Scotland, which has been transformed to look like 1700s France.

The new images feature cast members chatting with their fellow crew members in between scenes. In contrast to the first season, which was placed in Scotland, the images show costumes that are made from brighter colors and glamorous materials.

In a recent interview with Blastr , producer Ronald D. Moore explained how the new season will look and feel completely different than the first.

“Every set, costume, and prop [from season 1] had to be set aside. Now it’s a whole new series… We’re going to Prague for the streets of Paris, but we’re still doing most of the interiors on our soundstages. There are other locations in Scotland we’ll use, like exterior home gardens. And there are some palaces in England that will be stand-ins for Versailles.”

The primary filming location so far has been the Pollok Country Park in Glasgow, which has been completely changed to resemble 1700s France. With Jamie ( Sam Heughan ) and Claire ( Caitriona Balfe ) moving to France in the new season, the couple will be faced with a whole new set of issues including the complicated politics of Paris.

“Jamie’s thrown himself into it wholeheartedly. He’s in it, but he’s not relishing it at all,” Heughan stated in regards to Jamie getting involved with Parisian politics . “We see them slowly get better at [playing the game] and learn they can undercut people and be quite political themselves.”

At the same time, Claire is dealing with her pregnancy and helping Jamie overcome the terrible events he suffered through while in prison during Season 1.

“Claire is dealing with her pregnancy and [wondering], how do you support someone going through a trauma like [Jamie’s]?… How do you help him get over it, or get past it? The idea they have of changing the future, she uses it like a mission and something for Jamie to put his focus and energy into so he’s not dwelling on what’s happened.”

While an official premiere date has yet to be announced, Season 2 of Outlander is expected to air in the spring of 2016.
