One of the biggest questions remaining for Season 2 of Outlander is who will be playing Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) daughter, Brianna. With that in mind, audition tapes have recently leaked online that offer a glimpse into what fans can expect out of Brianna’s role in the new season.
According to International Business Times , the videos feature a number of actresses in scenes that correspond closely to the events in the book. These include talks about Jamie ( Sam Heughan ) hiding his hair to avoid being taken by the British and Brianna and Claire discussing talking about time travel.
Although all of these scenes are mentioned in the book, they don’t necessarily take place in the second book of Diana Gabaldon’s series . In fact, Brianna actually doesn’t go back in time until book four. This indicates that Brianna’s time line will be moved up in season two and that she might have a bigger role in the upcoming season.
Despite these chronological deviations from the books, Ronald D. Moore recently told Cross Map that he is confident fans will approve of the changes.
“The thing that gives me the most comfort is that Diana likes it a lot,” he stated. “She had said, ‘Oh, I really liked the way you did it. It was a difficult plot, I know, but I think you really found the essence of it. You really found the through line that really defines what this part of the journey is.’”
Meanwhile, producers have yet to indicate if they have chosen someone to play Brianna. While everyone eagerly awaits for this announcement, the cast and crew have already been busy filming for the new season in Scotland. Other filming locations include Prague and southern England.
Season 2 of Outlander will center on Jamie and Claire as they travel to Paris, France in order to try and stop the Jacobite Rebellion. While some of the cast members will be returning to reprise their roles, including Balfe and Heughan, the new season will also include a number of new and exciting characters.
With that in mind, a recent Instagram post by newcomer Stanley Weber includes three of these new characters. The image features three French actors, including Dominique Pinon, who is playing Master Raymond, Weber, who is set to portray Le Comte St. Germain, and Lionel Lingelser who will be playing King Louis XV.
Season 2 of Outlander is expected to air sometime in 2016.
