In August, 2009, Noel Gallagher left Oasis after a row with younger brother Liam. However, reports in the British media are strongly speculating that the band may be reforming as early as next year. The news may just be too good to be true for Oasis fans and Britpop fan in general, after Blur announced that they would release their first album in 12 years.
According to the Daily Mirror , a trusted source has stated that Noel and Liam Gallagher have reached a “gentleman’s agreement” to reform Oasis next year.
“It’s early days in terms of the details, but Noel and Liam are back on good terms and ready to give things another go. Nothing is signed but it’s what you might call a gentlemen’s agreement between them. Ultimately they’re family and whatever has gone on before can be sorted out – they’re very close beneath all the bluster.”
It is reported that Liam Gallagher is keen to rebuild his career after disbanding Beady Eye, a band comprising the remaining members of Oasis following Noel’s exit. Liam struggled to get his post-Oasis form going, while Noel continued to enjoy both critical acclaim and success on the UK and European charts.
Most importantly, it seems that the Gallagher brothers have patched up their relationship with one another after the huge feud that saw Noel walked out of the Dig Out Your Soul tour. Recently, Liam posted a photo of himself holding a backstage pass to one of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds concert, while Noel recommended that Liam should begin his solo career after battling a few personal demons.
It should be noted, however, that an agreement is far from official, and Noel stated that it would take a gigantic sum of money in order to reform the band.
Just last month, Noel Gallagher disclosed that he would reform the Britpop band for “half a billion,” no questions asked. He said, “If somebody puts that on the table, I’ll pack my bags in the morning and say, ‘How many gigs do you want?’ ”
Noel Gallagher is currently enjoying his solo career after topping the UK Charts yet again, and Amazon’s best sellers list in 2015, with his new album, Chasing Yesterday . Gallagher is set to release “Riverman” next month.
