WWE News: Nia Jax Will Challenge Charlotte Or Sasha Banks For the Raw Women’s Title After WWE ‘Roadblock’

For years, WWE’s Women’s division had the fatal flaw of having only one championship, which meant that only one woman could be on top of the WWE ladder. That didn’t necessarily “hold down” other talents, but there just simply weren’t enough opportunities for the entire division to get exposure. WWE’s brand extension has done a lot to help, but we’d be lying if we said there wasn’t still some favoritism happening.

Charlotte and Sasha Banks have been feuding exclusively over the Raw Women’s Championship essentially since July. They’ve had great matches, they have made WWE women’s history together, and The Boss vs. The Queen could be the feud of the year. However, Banks and Charlotte being pushed so heavily has taken some of the spotlight from the other female Raw talents over the past few months while they make history.

For example, Bayley, Dana Brooke, and others have had their share of screen time on Raw every week, but Sasha Banks and Charlotte are set to be in the second women’s Ironman match at WWE Roadblock, and it will serve as the blow-off match of their rivalry for the foreseeable future. At WWE Roadblock , the debate about Banks or Charlotte will come to a head, but another big question is who will face the winner after Sunday?

The expectation was that whenever Banks vs. Charlotte had concluded, Bayley would be next in line because she was the most logical choice to challenge either woman for the WWE Raw Women’s title. It has been reported many times that WWE officials are planning Banks vs. Bayley for the WWE Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando. WWE may be holding onto that match for the grandest stage of them all.

After WWE Roadblock , Raw and SmackDown are going to be full-steam ahead for the WWE Royal Rumble in January, so WWE choosing Sasha Banks or Charlotte to be the Raw Women’s Champion is going to be a big deal heading into WWE’s most important time of the year. Fortunately, it seems that WWE has a plan.

WWE’s creative plans going forward are calling for Sasha Banks to defeat Charlotte at WWE Roadblock , but it wouldn’t be the first time WWE has swerved the fans in this feud. If that result goes through, the rumor is that Nia Jax would challenge Sasha for the title and Charlotte would move into a feud with Bayley. Having said that, WWE could easily book Charlotte vs. Jax for the WWE Royal Rumble if that’s the better option.

Nia Jax has been undefeated in singles competition since debuting on Raw after the WWE Draft. She was forced to submit at WWE Survivor Series , which did hurt her momentum. Luckily, these small losses don’t often matter, and a feud for the Raw Women’s Championship will catapult her to the top of the WWE ladder.

The only problem is that Nia Jax has a lot to lose in a feud with Sasha Banks or Charlotte after WWE Roadblock because she’s been built as the immovable object of the women’s division. NXT officials booked her the same way in NXT, but a few big losses really hurt her unbeatable aura that her character honestly needs. It isn’t likely that WWE officials would book her to win over Banks or Charlotte, so where does that leave her?

Nia Jax is good at what she does, and a win over her means a lot for her opponent because she is so tough to beat one on one. That would be great for Sasha or even Charlotte, who could use a new challenge. However, WWE officials are going to have to take care of Nia Jax because her momentum as a monster heel may not be built to last. She could be a WWE Women’s Champion some day, but is that going to be next month?
