NFL Power Rankings Topped By Seahawks

Two weeks into the season and the NFL power rankings have a new number one. After a powerful beat down of the 49ers, the Seahawks have taken their rightful place on top.

The Seattle Seahawks proved they’re the team to beat in 2013 with Sunday night’s 29-3 win over San Francisco. Seattle’s defense is easily the best in the league. Colin Kaepernick threw a career high three interceptions trying to make anything happen while 49ers running Frank Gore was a non-factor, only gaining 16 yards. The Seahawks have a pretty good offense too.

Number two in the power rankings went to the Denver Broncos. Peyton Manning proved once again he’s unstoppable in the regular season. Denver easily beat the Giants 41-23. The Broncos defense didn’t make things easy for New York either. Eli Manning was picked off four times and looked helpless trying to lead the Giants down the field.

The San Francisco 49ers fell to the number three spot. The drop could have been a lot steeper after the loss to Seattle, so they should consider themselves lucky. San Francisco looked overmatched and under-prepared playing in the league’s loudest stadium. They’ll meet the Seahawks again in week 14 in San Francisco.

Jumping five spots in the NFL power rankings to number four were the Green Bay Packers . Aaron Rodgers led Green Bay to a 38-20 win over the Redskins. Rodgers threw for 335 yards in the first half in one of the best games of his career.

Despite starting the season 2-0, the Houston Texans dropped one spot to number five. Houston would be 1-1 if not for a missed field goal in he fourth quarter by the Titans. Close games that you should lose don’t get you very much love.

The Patriots, Bears, Saints, Falcons, and Bengals rounded out the top 10. The surprising Miami Dolphins jumped three spots to number 11. Look for them to make a splash in the coming weeks.

Do you agree with the NFL power rankings? Are the Seahawks the team to beat?
